2010-07-30 Brewers (Parra) at Astros (Happ), 7:05 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 5-0]

Frustrating game. Happ wasn't very good at all, but the Brewers couldn't capitalize when they got guys on base.

For future reference, let's avoid the namecalling in regards to Gomez. It's possible to talk about his deficiencies as a player without resorting to that kind of thing. Just a reminder from the Fan Forum Etiquette:

Following the Brewers means accepting their bad days as well as their good ones. If you want a place to blow off steam by declaring players or team staff worthless when the Brewers play poorly, Brewerfan is not the forum for you. Other sports message boards fill that niche better than Brewerfan does.

This does not mean we allow only praise of the Brewers; but constructive criticism that remains civil and mature contributes more to the overall discussion than saying "TurnbLow SUX!!!11!!" or "I hate this team," or declaring a game "over" in the 3rd inning.

Please refrain from impulsive posts expressing knee-jerk frustration in the form of vents, rants and complaints. If you find that most of your posts take this path, you may want to switch to a forum that's more your style than Brewerfan is.

Today effort was totally pathetic by the whole team and time to call out Braun because he is playing horrible.I still can't believe Melvin is in his right mind if he thinks this team should be buyers...It about time that Mark cleans house from top to bottom.

Take two pitches right down the middle and swing at the pitch in the dirt.

I <3 Gomez.

This is what I am so frustrated with about Gomez, as many of you are too. He seems to have no approach at the plate whatsoever. If you want to be a power hitter, fine. But for the love of God, go up there looking for a specific pitch. He's hacking wildly at anything and everything. He just seems so freakin' clueless that it makes me want to pull my hair out, I really hope that he doesn't see regular PT next year in CF for the Brewers.

Sorry, I was legitimately trying to state a reason why teams may not want him.

I guess I could have said he probably isn't the best clubhouse guy/fan guy/well-liked by opponents guy. Granted, I'm inferring off what I see on TV and read in the paper, he hasn't pulled any T.O. type antics, but if you're a fringe MLB player, those are things you probably don't need.

I don't get the impression that other players don't like him at all. He is just not a good player right now. That is why nobody wants to trade for him.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

He's never been a good player in MLB. He might play some D in CF, but his bat isn't catching up.
