Felix Hernandez

I'm trying to get creative to find ways to bring a legit pitcher to Milwaukee without overpaying in free-agency. Here is an idea that's been kicking around in my head. Jack Z. supposedly loves Brett Lawrie and took Mark Rogers in the first round. I think that it makes sense to offer him Fielder/Lawrie/Rogers this offseason for Hernandez (if Jack Z. still has his job). Hernandez is under control for I believe 4 more years at a pretty reasonable price and would bring a legit ace to the Brewers. I'd even consider taking back a bad contract with him if that's what it takes (can Milton Bradley play right?). Obviously the Mariners just acquired Smoak, but he could DH in the near term. This may also appeal to the Mariners because they could try to flip Prince for even more prospects at some point.

Does anyone think that the Mariners may go for this, and do you think the Brewers would do it?

it's an interesting thought. if i were JZ i'd probably make the trade, even though that would leave them with nothing for pitchers.

but even if you figure in that Prince isn't traded and we take the Comp picks, that's giving up four first-rounders. with the real risk that any pitcher gets some injury or just falls off a cliff ability-wise, four first-rounders is sure a lot.

The Mariners wouldn't go for this at all. The best option would be to trade Lawrie/Gamel to the Mariners for Pineda.

Please Gamel and not Lawrie.

Seattle would be crazy to trade Felix. He just signed a 5 year contract before the season. It just does not make any sense. It would be as ridiculous as us trading Ryan Braun a year after he signed his contract. It is just not going to happen under any circumstances.

We can dream, but there is no prayer of this.
