When I was there, Cinergy Field was still the home ballpark. I stayed with a friend who lived in the suburbs, but before the games we went over to Covington, KY and ate/drank at one of the many waterfront establishments and then rode a ferry across the river to the stadium.

For what it's worth, we ate at a Hooters--that's the type of establishment you'll find there. I also remember there was one bar that was really hopping right where the ferry dropped us off after the game.

Here's an article about the ferry:

Yeah I went to Cincy last year twice. The ballpark is located right on the river so it's very easy to find. It's a very neat ballpark.

The city itself, dont go too far north else you'll end up in the rhine which is there ghetto and it's very bad.

Oh and dont forget to have skyline chilli =)

That's what we did when we were there. We got lost getting out of the game and then missed the on ramp back to 71/75 and found ourselves in a pretty nasty neighborhood. Broken glass everywhere, half the buildings are beyond trashed. Not a good place.

Across the river from the stadium is Newport which has a bunch of bars and stuff.

As for places to eat, I second Skyline - kinda like Real Chili in Milwaukee but a little better, IMO.

If you like ribs there's a place on the river not far from the stadium called Montgomery Inn.

I went to Cincy once. My only road trip. Left Milwaukee at 6am, found a Big Boy's down there to eat at, bought two tickets from a scalper, watched a Phillies/Reds rain delayed game in the inaugural season, and drove back arriving in Milwaukee at 4am. Not much help to you, but one of my favorite baseball memories.
