2010-07-21 Brewers (Wolf) at Pirates (Duke), 6:05 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 15-3]

These guys are like the Lynn Dickey era Packers...incredible offense, horrendous defense...having to work way too hard just to knock on .500.

They'll probably lose this one 15-12

That is a fantastic analogy. This team sure does seem to be the baseball version of those Packers teams.

Wolf's pitching has Davey flummoxed more than usual. All he could muster was "he's throwing it right over the plate." Also, hooray Cain sighting!

Randy Wolf is garbage. When the signing was made, I said that it had "Jeff Suppan" written all over it. However many claimed that he was left-handed and threw much harder, therefore the signing was not similar at all.

I say be cautious of signing pitchers coming off of contract years.

This team is not simply unlucky, it is a joke and if they don't start selling off some pieces for pitching, I don't know how I am going to watch them next year.

I'm not too embarrased to say I've been watching Manchester United vs the expansion MLS team from Philadelphia. I'm not a huge soccer fan, but for those of you who are not fans at all, watching this game is essentially like watching a Packers pre-season game against an American football team from England. And I think I got the better end of the deal.

While nobody thought he would be amazing, I don't think anybody thought he would be as bad as he has been. He is probably having the worst season of his career so far. He should be around a 4.25 era. It just sucks that everybody we've signed in the past few years have had career-worst seasons with us. I don't think Wolf's career is over and he can still be useful so I won't be calling him Suppan 2.0 quite yet.

Sounds kind of familiar.

I have been as well. It's fun to see the European giants tour the states, even if the stars aren't with them. Watching the Brewers has been agonizing. At this point, I'd rather watch Maltese minor league handball.

Jason Stark last night noted that the last team before Brewers to have 3 pitchers give up 10+ R in same calendar month: '91 A's (Dressendorfer May 4, Welch May 5, Moore May 17). Parra and Narvy have done it. Bush was third last night, Wolf tonight. Has to be the record, right?

Cory and Davey are pretty certain the Pirates are now taking pity on the Brewers, not sending the runner from third last inning there when he probably could have scored. In regards to 10+ runs in a game, Haudricourt tweeted no team had starting pitchers allow at least 10 runs three times in a four-game stretch since the St. Louis Browns from July 5-9, 1937.

Wolf has not done anything to prove to me he won't be another Suppan. He is a soft tosser who pitched in a big ball park in LA.

He pitched in LA for one year last year and one year in 2007. He also pitched a half-year in Houston (a hitter's park) where he did pretty well (granted the other half in the pitcher's park in SD wasn't as good). And then he pitched in two different parks in PHI for the first 8 years of his career. I don't think anyone can be as bad as Suppan was.
