Going to Greer - Who to watch for?

Headed down to Nashville next week to visit the lady friend's family and it looks like I'll be making it to at least one Sounds game. Can't wait, something I've wanted to do for a while. I'll be seeing them take on the Omaha Royals next Friday, for sure. I don't follow the minors all that much, but I obviously know enough to keep an eye on Gamel. Looking at the Sounds roster page, strangely enough the names that jump out at me like Stern, Katin, Cruz, Dillard, DiFelice, etc are NOT found on the Power 50. Hmm. Guess I'm out of touch. So Farris, Lofgren, McClendon, and Kintzler are really the guys to watch, eh? Maybe I picked the wrong year for this. How about on the Omaha side? Any stud prospects over there?

For Omaha, you should be familiar with former big-leaguers Rick Ankiel and Alex Gordon. Their first baseman is Kila Ka'aihue, a sluggardly slugger stuck in the minors for somewhat unfathomable reasons. The real stud prospect, though, is Mike Moustakas, the #2 pick in the 2007 draft who was just promoted to AAA last week after decimating the Texas League. The Royals organization has a ton of pitching prospects, but none have yet matriculated to AAA, though their staff does have former prospects Phil Humber, Bryan Bullington, and Gaby Hernandez on it.

I'd love to hear how Gordon looks in his move to RF, and always want to hear how Gamel looks defensively.

LaTroy Hawkins will be done with his rehab by then and back with the Brewers. DiFelice has never been here this year. Luis Cruz and Ray Olmedo are fun to watch play. Both cover the infield very well. Brendan Katin and Joe Koshanski are the big sticks and can hit some towering home runs. Mat Gamel.. sorry, not a big fan of him. Lorenzo Cain might be back then as they'll need to do something with him when Yo comes back on Thursday. Try and get a game that Chase Wright is throwing. He's been throwing very well his last few outings. Keep in mind.. Greer is old and worn out.. but few bad seats in the house. My seats are right near the Sounds dug-out, but the last few games I've hung with the guys in the bull pen. I know a lot of the players, so we have some pretty good conversations. They charge $3 for parking.. unless you get a spot on the street. Any question let me know.. 4 year season ticket holder............
