Awesome. I loved the large hi-def scoreboards that I've seen in other ballparks. It's about time.

My only question is--can it withstand getting hammered with home run balls?

I don't get the fascination with big scoreboards. I mean it's cool, but I don't think it's really needed. When I go to Miller Park I'm there to watch the field, not the scoreboard. Just give me the basic statistics and I'm good. I have to imagine this money could have been put to better use.

Yeah, I kind of agree with GB12. It definitely looks cool, but fans aren't going to come to see the really big HDTV.

Take a look at that 2011 lineup, though. Clearly this means the Brewers are going to stand pat and not trade Hart or Fielder. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Will be nice if they keep doing those "drive-in" movie events. Would also be nice if they ever bring any more concerts to MP. They could also show away playoff games when the Brewers make the playoffs in another 24-25 years http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I know it's sarcasm, but if you look closely, they're using Prince's 2009 stats. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I live close by so I would always go anyway, but if it were tougher for me to get to games, the new screen would definitely help me make sure I get to at least one.

I just think it's cool they have a 1080 HD screen that size.

I got home from Wednesday's dreadful game to find like 10 Facebook posts from the Brewers about this new scoreboard. I'm not going to lie, I wasn't really in the mood to read about that after 3 hours and 16 minutes of suck (which as you know started within about 30 seconds of the second pitch).

If the new scoreboard doesn't have those green and red globs that make it look like Casey McGehee is crying, or like Craig Counsell has one of those dots on his forehead like you see on Indian women...then fine, go ahead.

But look - by sometime in 2011, Yovani appears to be back in the rotation. Phew! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

More seriously, though, this quote from the Journal Sentinel link posted by AJAY is pretty impressive:

The current Miller Park board features 133,624 pixels. The new display

will have 2,358,720 pixels. That gives the new video board 18 times

better resolution.

Dang.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

yeah, it looks great in conceptual drawings and mockups but if it's anything like the HD board at Chase Field, it'll get annoying real fast. Just too much information on the thing that it takes you a minute to read it all and then you've missed 2-3 pitches. Sure it's great for replays and stuff but otherwise it's a great big distraction.

Give me simple any day. I'm there to watch the game.

I agree with OWBC. How will it put up with being pummeled in batting practice every day? The one in Phoenix rarely gets hit because it's so high up but doesn't the current board in Milwaukee get hit a bunch of times every BP session? I don't get up there often enough to know the answer to that.

Looks cool to me. To be honest, I think the current scoreboard looks pretty dated. The larger monochrome screen looks very 1980's-ish. Also the smaller color screen they have now has some glitches and colored lines showing up (maybe from not being maintained anymore?).

I'm sure they could put something in front of it, just like they have in front of the LED boards in left field. This looks like it will be pretty cool. The scoreboard badly needs updating just based on how wonky it acts at times.

While hearing about the scoreboard being replaced the last couple years, I always had a "who cares" attitude towards it. But after visiting Target Field, I can not wait for the new scoreboard. I thought the HD scoreboard was the best part of Target Field.

The current boards are wearing out. In the game I went to last month, the color board had streaks that were off color, and the B/W board had constant graphics glitches. As long as the existing board is going to be replaced, they may as well put in something top-notch.

If only getting a rotation that looks good were as easy.

Now they can show the replays of our 73-89 team in true high def.

whee.

Based on the current scoreboard, I have my doubts as to how often they'll actually show replays on the thing. (Wouldn't want to show up a umpire by putting a play up there fans want to see again.)

Does this mean that, by 2021, the Brewers will be talking up their new 3d scoreboard?

Keep in mind they've been planning for this basically since Attanasio bought the team. It's not like he just decided last week to put this thing in just to keep discontent fans happy.

Actually, plans were made for this scoreboard before the stadium even opened.

I think we're suffering from a lack of information. Before matrix and video boards existed, all out of town scores were generally available at all times, for instance. Now, when there's a break in the game and you have a chance to look at scoreboard information, it vanishes in favor of advertising and funky graphics.

I noticed that the mockup shows SLG pct., which is kind of lacking now. (It briefly pops up on the left field scoreboard, then vanishes in favor of other information.) But it misses OBP, something we have now. I'm sure that's a function of the artist's work and that it'll be ironed out.

Also, I'm wondering about this: 1080p or 1080i? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Bah! Give me the old orange County Stadium scoreboard any day. :-)

Not sure if this is a joke but I agree. Personally I find all the activity on the new mlb scoreboards annoying, like when the players enlarged faces blink that is creepy, I've had my fill of kiss cam, and it seems like they are more for advertising than anything else. The other thing is that they shouldn't let players pick their in between song music anymore. I was at my first game at MP in two years this week, and I couldn't believe the taste in music chosen by the Brewers lineup.

If they showed in game highlights on the scoreboard, and highlights from around mlb, I would like that, but I find that the information pumped out to be mostly an annoying distraction from the game. So I would prefer the old County Stadium scoreboard.

One thing I like however is "Make some Noise" with the barometer and techno music. That gets me every time.
