Hart Trade Thread: Latest-- Does Hart's injury mean no deal?

Very Machaesque....Cain gets sent down and THEN we give Hart a day off. I do agree Hart needed a day, but why not when Cain was around. I wonder if Cain actually went to Nashville. I have a feeling he is hanging around in a Pittsburgh hotel room.

I have that feeling as well. Although it might not mean anything. We'll see.

I just hope Melvin doesn't blow this opportunity. This is the best chance he's had to trade for young talented pitching since he's been here. It disappoints me to see rumors about Gordon Beckham. Not that Beckham isn't a good player, but we don't need someone who can play 2nd or 3rd base. I hear Tampa is interested in Jason Werth. Maybe the Brewers could provide Tampa with a better offer than Philly can. Hart is putting up better numbers and is under control for a year longer than Werth. I'd target some of their prospects like Colome, McGee, Barnese, and Torres. Maybe Hart and a reliever for two of those players?

He hasn't had a day off (other than the travel day after the All Star game) in quite a while, but it is odd that he'd sit the day after Cain got sent down. All I can say is that I really hope is a day off or a trade and not an injury.

I have no idea if I'm alone on this one, but I've come around to thinking getting Sanchez for Hart wouldn't be that bad...with the caveat that they're also able to trade Fielder for a young arm that's much more controllable, like Dan Hudson.

I think there's a possibility that neither the Hart trade nor the Fielder trade generates an impressive haul when you look at them individually, but if you look at the sum of the two deals the Brewers could walk away with an impressive group of young players. Of course, that doesn't mean they shouldn't maximize their return on both players, but I don't necessarily think they need to get top of the line pitching in both deals for this deadline season/winter to be considered a good one. But maybe I'm just crazy.

The Phillies were reportedly asking for Upton or Wade Davis for Werth, and that player would be sent to Houston as part of a deal to send Oswalt to Philly. Myself, I don't see how Upton is worth the same as Davis. Upton has burned up service time without being that productive. To me, it sounded like the only thing holding this deal up is/was Oswalt.

If the Brewers could get Wade Davis for Hart, I'd be happy, and I'd be real happy with Wade Davis and a prospect. Hart should be worth more than Werth due to 1 more season of control and that he's playing better right now.

Wasn't it Upton AND Davis?

ESPN's Jayson Stark reported Wednesday that one source said the Phillies asked for RHP Wade Davis or CF B.J. Upton, a hefty price for a two-month rental.

Thats from one source, but its certainly possible it was reported differently somewhere else.

Delgado's player page notes "Class A Advanced Carolina League"

I would definitely "settle" on a 20-yo that has dominated high-A ball to the tune of 9.2 K/9, 2.5 BB/9, & a 2.76 ERA over 20 starts. He's been even better than Odorizzi has, at the next level up. In fact, after looking into him some more, if Melvin could get Delgado, I would be ecstatic.

No idea, but it seems unlikely they would settle for one player who is in low A ball (or is Carolina high A?).

Yeah, as TLB said the Carolina League is High A. He's also built up some innings as well with 124 last year and already 117 this year. He has a slightly above average fastball at 90-94 mph. An above average changeup (and we know how much the Brewers like the changeup) and an average curveball with the potential to be above average.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that he gets some innings in AA this year, starts there next year and depending how he does moves to AAA and then possibly the majors.

If SF doesn't want to trade pitching, they can just give us Buster Posey and we'll call it a deal http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
Who could then play first when Fielder is traded.
McGehee, and call up Gamel. Or Edmonds, and call up Cain.

There was no question raised, jwill made a statement that Posey could replace Fielder when he is traded -- though the chances of us getting Posey for Hart would appear to be nil (not that anybody was really indicating that as a possibility).

You're right I thought it said who would play first, not who could.
