Mr. Cain goes to Milwaukee (well, technically, to Atlanta); Latest -- Lorenzo sent back to Nashville

And That
Agreed. Gomez still has value. Its not like Hardy is doing anything anyway. The bats are still strong, and Escobar was supppse to be a good defender from his minor league defensive stats.

Gamel sitting on the bench was more due to his lack of putting in the extra work then it was Macha. This has been reported before. Please stop making it out to be some vendetta by Macha.

I also wouldnt be surprised if it isnt Gallardo to the DL and and then Cain back down for Davis.

Very happy for Lo. I've been penciling him in the OF for the last two years, but with that injury really set him back last year.

I really wonder if this is exactly what someone mentioned prevouisly in this thread. (can Lo take Hart's spot if they trade him?) Or does this mean Gerut is let loose?

Gerut is on the DL.

Witrado with an update:

Melvin summoned outfielder Lorenzo Cain from Class AAA Nashville in case

the Brewers had to put Gallardo on the DL. If that was the case, the

Brewers didn't want to scramble to get someone here from the minors the

way they had to in Minnesota when Manny Parra had to pitch in the

extra-inning game and couldn't start the next day. That means calling

Cain before a move is certain is a logistical move. So, Cain is not a

Brewer just yet, but that could change by the end of the day.

Cain not officially called up yet. If he does get the call, I'm betting he will be on the bench. Hopefully they give him a start before he gets sent back down when Davis is activated.

I don't get why the Brewers would call up a center fielder, when a pitcher is hurt.

I don't mind it as long as Cain starts. We're at 13 pitchers right now and most teams go with 12, so it's not like we're shorthanded pitching wise by calling up Cain.

Latest word from the WSSP pre-game is that Yovani Gallardo will not be placed on the DL; Cain is likely headed back to Nashville.

While Yovani will miss his next start and the ASG, it appears he may be ready before the Brewers' 6th game after the break, which would be the only reason not to DL him at this point.

Dr. Raasch has declared Yo's injury a strain;

Everything that I have read seems to indicate that there should be 6-8 weeks of downtime for this injury to heal. Furthermore, pitching through an oblique strain can lead to rotator problems as well.

I don't understand why the Brewers wouldn't put Yo on the DL -- they are going to have to make room for Davis. While Yo could certainly pitch through this sort of injury, the risk of reinjury or rotator cuff damage seems quite large given the relative small chances of reaching the post-season in 2010.

You're missing the two most important points, though: 1) The Brewers' impeccable accuracy in medical diagnoses, & 2) Gallardo is of no importance to the club long-term

Yes, this is extremely scary. Its really shortsighted to keep Yo active when a DL stint would only cost him a few days in the best case scenario.

I'll be surprised if Yo makes another start in July.

Yeah, a DL stint would now cost him 1 start since he's being skipped in his next one. No reason not to do it. You protect your future, don't risk anything with Yovani.
