Milwaukee Bucks 2010/2011

Luke to the T-wolves is what the Minnesota stations are saying today.

That is just a really odd move. Yes, Jonny Flynn is a bust but they still have Ramon and should be getting Rubio after next season. Why not let Flynn back up Sessions next year to see if he can salvage his career instead of making a convoluted series of moves that ends with Luke Ridnour as your starter?

That said, I like what Minnesota has done in getting Beasley and clearing room for Love. Now they just need to get rid of all the deadweight they have on their roster. Still, in 2011-2012, they should have a core of Love, Rubio and Beasley. That could be an entertaining team. Johnson also has some potential but I'm afraid he'll end up being total garbage like Corey Brewer. They seem kind of similar to me in that both were complementary SFs who were taken in the top 7 despite having no stand-out skills and probably being overrated because they each played for excellent college teams. Johnson could obviously pan out but I'm a little pessimistic about it.

Sessions has been rumored to the Pacers for a long time. I'm guessing Ridnour will fill the same role in MN as he did here.

How exactly is Jonny Flynn a bust already? He was the point guard for a team with absolutely no direction last season. They were terrible. He managed 13 points and 4 assists a game. He's 21 years old. If anything, I would expect him to step it up a bit this season if they can work out some sort of regular rotation

I dont disagree with that one bit. For that matter, Sessions isnt a good fit for the triangle either. They have no idea what they are doing. If Flynn is available for as cheap as they are giving him away, a team that needs a point guard would be crazy not to pursue it

The triangle is really predicated on having guards who can hit the open jumper (and having good passing big men) and guards who can post up (see Ron Harper, Derek Fisher). The idea with the triangle is that all the spots, other than the Center, are really interchangeable.

Flynn just isn't that good of a shooter (yet?) and as far as I know, doesn't have a post up game. He'd be much better using his quickness in an offense like the Bucks which utilizes the pick 'n roll much more often.

If Flynn is available for cheap, I really hope the Bucks pursue him. The Bucks need a backup point guard and I can see Flynn running with Jennings too. I wouldn't mind offering CDR, Jackson and next year's better 2nd round pick for Flynn .

Watched the Bucks summer league game tonite and came away very impressed with Larry Sanders. I think Sanders is going to contribute more than expected for Bucks this season especially defensively, I'm pretty excited about his potential with more experience, coaching and muscle.

I doubt Flynn could be had for that kind of cheap, but it is David Kahn, so I guess anything is possible. I agree with Baldkin. Flynn is a pick and roll PG, in a system that doesn't utilize though. Up there he looks awful, put him with someone like Amare Stoudemire, and people are calling him a top PG. Stuff like this is why I like the Bucks direction right now. They are putting together a Scott Skiles team. Would love to see this team turn into a 2004 Pistons, who could win a ring without a true superstar. I think they are a legitimate Top 4 team in the East this year.

With Lebron gone in Cleveland does this make the Bucks the default #1 team in the Central?

Also looking over the moves so far are the Bucks really a top 4 team in the East?

Just looking at the East I think the Bucks are a top 4 team but it is hard to gauge since the Celtics are really old now and they may not be a top 4 team anymore in the East. I could see the Bucks being the 3rd best team in the East this coming up season but they could also be a #5 seed again in the playoffs.

Chicago is poised to make a run in the Central. I think most people would call them the favorites, with the addition of Boozer. I do like the Bucks chances, though.

As for the top seeds:

1) Miami

2) Orlando

3) Boston

After that, I think 4-6 could be very up in the air, between Milwaukee, Chicago, and Atlanta.

Sanders looked really good in his 2nd summer league game, as did Tiny Gallon. If only they can both stop turning the ball over.

Turnovers are rampant in Summer League. No one knows the system, or what they are doing yet. If Sanders can provide a defensive presence this year ala LRMAM, I will consider it a solid pick. Gallon grabbing some scrub minutes would be nice too! I think this is the year Boston is done. They're old and becoming (more) injury prone. I agree that Chicago, Atl, and the Bucks are pretty even.

I'd be willing to improve the offer to CDR, Jackson and next year's top 15 protected 1st round pick, if Flynn is available. Heard today that Ridnour has agreed to sign with the Wolves.

The Bucks finally won a game in Summer League yesterday. Larry Sander played decent in the few games averaging 14 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks a game but shot poorly from the free throw line. Sean Williams almost had a triple double yesterday with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 9 personal fouls.

Sanders looked good, although he took too many jumpers.

Can really see why the Bucks liked Tiny Gallon as well. The guy just gets rebounds. He has issues on the offensive end, but at only 19, I could definitely see him being a 20-minute a game guy in a year or two.

I love this move, it seems like a perfect fit. I think they are done signing for the PG position. Dooling, Hobson, and Delfino can fill in. If it is longer term, they could just sign a guy like Diener off the street. I'm with you Tri on wishing they had not signed Gooden.
