Too bad they coudnt pull off that come back. Would of been very nice back-to-back wins.

Maggette defense doesnt please Skiles at all but i i think he got minutes early in the year in spite that. He hasnt been as productive offensivly as of late so i think hes on the bench until he improves defensively, or until our offense gets bad enough that he gets minutes. Thats kind of Skiles way and it seems to work pretty well.

Granted it's been a tough schedule, a bunch of guys have been hurt and we've got some new pieces to mix in (or hide depending on how you look at it) but after watching this team without him I think that Delfino might be the third (or even 2nd best over Jennings) player on this team.

And it kind of scares me.

Also, the Bucks should trade Maggette (who clearly doesn't fit in) for Turkoglu. Turk has a bad contract, but his game is pretty similar to Delfino's and he can hit a 3. Maggette can go hog the ball in Phoenix and not worry about having to play D.

Yea, one the biggest weaknesses on the roster Hammond built in the offseason was questionable perimeter shooting and when Delfino went down, it left the roster extremely short on perimeter shooting.

As for trading Maggette for Turkoglu, i and most Bucks fans would be all for it, doubt the Phoenix front office would be though.

Unfortunately, I don't think Delfino is gonna come back. Has there ever been another player that has had to wear a helmet? I don't think so.

Not the NBA, but still basketball.

I was watching ESPN today and they profiled the UCONN women's basketball team and one of the ladies had a helmet on. It looked like the kind of helmet you see rugby or Australian Rules Football players wear.

i don't remember it being mentioned in this thread, but what happened to Delfino that he needs to wear a helmet?

i'm also curious what you guys think of Brandon Jennings this year? i've only seen his numbers from a few games, so i don't want to make a judgment from that. last year it seemed to be only his shooting percentage that was keeping him from All-Star status, so is he playing a little better now? does he show like he's developing into a star, or does he look like he'll forever be just a decent NBA player, or is it too early to judge?

I just got back from my second game this year. I absolutely hate the starting lineup "tradition" that the Bucks are trying to start where the PA announcer only says the player's first name and then the crowd is suppose to yell the player's last name. I'm curious, does anyone like this? Hearing the starting lineups is one of my favorite parts of attending games because it is such a spectacle in most arenas. Now, I feel like I am missing out on part of the action.

Delfino got the Corey Koskie treatment with a concussion. No one is sure if or when he might be back, although, he's apparently actually able to exercise. The team really, really misses him. Having both him and CDR out at the same time also really hurt. Magette really fit in well playing with Luc Richard -- both black holes offensively, one because he can't score, the other because he insists on scoring. One great defender, one not so good.

Having to bump Prince Luc up to the starting lineup really hurt.

Jennings is getting better, he still struggles getting the bigs the ball going to the hoop on Pick 'n Rolls (he does a lot better with Gooden, who can pick 'n pop... than Bogut, who rolls to the rim). His assist/possession numbers need to get better for me to consider him an elite point guard, but he's definitely light years better than anyone the Bucks have had since Sam Cassel. And yes, that includes Mo Williams.

I don't know, between Jennings, CDR and Dooling, he had 3 more solid shooters on the roster. It's just that one of them has also been hurt (CDR) and Dooling forgot how to shoot for the first 6 weeks of the season.

CDR wasn't a good perimeter shooter his first two seasons in the NBA, his best skillset by far was as a slasher and finishing on the fast break. So far he's shot well from the perimeter with the Bucks, but it's only been 11 games, we'll see if it can continue.

We're approaching the New Year, which also means we're approaching how to salvage the Bucks' season.

Last year we had expiring contracts to help bring guys on at the deadline. Salmons played out of his mind and it was a fun year.

This year? Nothing. Hammond had the worst offseason imaginable.

I'd like to see us turn it around, but I highly doubt it. Last year was the exception, and not the rule.

I don't think this could be further from the truth.

Michael Redd is a huge expiring contract that could be used to pick up a piece or pieces at the deadline.

I still say the Maggette - Gadzuric/Bell trade was really good. He can for sure score for about 24 minutes a game.

The CDR for a 2012 2nd round draft pick was a really good deal.

The Keyon Dooling signing was excellent.

Wasn't a big fan of the Brockman - Jackson trade, but I think that's a pretty minor deal anyway.

Trading Jerome Jordan was really head-scratching to me. They really needed a backup C, and dealt a possible true C backup away.

Cutting Gallon and Hobson sucked, but that was a numbers game. Hopefully Hobson can still be re-signed.

Loved the Sanders pick. He has potential written all over him.

The Boykins signing I thought was a slight +

Re-signing Salmons I thought was OK. Glad to have him back, 5 years seems a bit much, but hopefully he can just keep playing like he has.

The one specific move I didn't like was signing Gooden. Not because he's a bad player, but because of the contract that he was given, I think Ersan is basically the same player, and because we had no true backup C.

The one "general" move I didn't like in the offseason was not bringing in a true backup C. When Gooden, Brockman, and Skinner are your backup C's, you're in trouble. Wish they would have brought back Elson. Not that he was awesome or anything, but I feel like he's a perfect backup C.

The thing that has really killed this team has been injuries. It's been brutal ever since the beginning of camp. Salmons shouldn't have been playing at the start of the season after his sprained ankle or whatever he had at the beginning of camp, I feel like they should have let him rest up and get in better shape before getting all the minutes he had been getting. CDR's fluke eye injury. Delfino's concussion. Bogut's back. Jennings broken foot. Gooden's bad foot. That's really tough to have six main contributors injured for significant time, and to play a difficult beginning of season schedule and to be too down on the team.

As of now, they're actually in the playoffs, and the schedule gets more favorable towards the end of the season, when hopefully everyone is back and healthy to play. Hopefully they can click and get hot at the right time of the season again, like last year.

I'd love to use the contract to pick up an impact player, but from everything I've read, they're intending to let him expire. If they didn't, they wouldn't be able to keep CDR or LRMaM, who are RFA.

I still say the Maggette - Gadzuric/Bell trade was really good. He can for sure score for about 24 minutes a game.

I thought this was a good trade when it went down, but so far it has been just the opposite. His offense has been way down, and he's playing the worst d of his career. Maggette is nearly a lock to be traded before the seasons over.

The CDR for a 2012 2nd round draft pick was a really good deal.

Agreed. I like CDR's game, and hope his outside shooting hasn't been a mirage, as he's more of a slasher.

The Keyon Dooling signing was excellent.

I like Keyon, but he's been pretty bad. He's a good defender, but we need him to start shooting better. We'd have been better off just resigning Ridnour.

That's quite the slap in the face to Ilyasova. He's everything Gooden is not. Smart, relentless motor, and underpaid. Gooden seems like a good dude, and I do like his effort more than I thought I would, but he's just not very good.
