"The Big Unit"

Shampoo4U

Can anybody stand listening to this guy on WTMJ?

The Brewers are in the heart of their season. Tonight in the 1st hour of the show he babbles on about talking Brewers baseball and taking calls about Brewers baseball for the 1st hour. SO, how many Brewers baseball calls did he take?? TWO, yes 2. He also took 2 calls about NBA basketball.

This guy is such a joke when it come to Sports Talk radio. We has to listen to him babble about his day. We had to listen about NFL, NBA and Packers Mini Camp starting.

Come on WTMJ-- get someone that actually wants to "talk" about sports rather than babble about it and take a total of 4 calls and brag about how he has a cast of thousands on the line.

I know he is only slightly worse than the 2 guys that talk to each other on the weekends and also don't take calls.

Is it a show for the callers or a show for them to get on their "Soapbox"?

I'm pretty sure that Brian likes Bill Michaels. He started listening to the guy when his favorite sports talk guy Peter Brown left town.

Jamie, shouldn't this be in blue?

But yeah - with the departure of the glorious Peter Brown, Bill Michaels has taken over as the head idiot in town.

I have it on in the background. For the first 25 minutes of the second hour---ZERO calls. Just two guys (Unit and Lance Allen) babbling back and forth about "stuff".

If I were running the station this guy should be FIRED. It is a total waste of 2 hours of airtime. Ship him back to Cincinnati for a bag of peanuts.

He took ZERO calls for the whole 2nd hour. I guess either nobody listens to the show or nobody gives a rip about Sports and the Brewers in the Milwaukee area.

They should put on another 2 hours of Sykes or Wagner, at least maybe someone would listen or call in.

Not living in Milwaukee, I don't get to hear much of Bill Michaels. But I do remember occasions where he'd tell listeners he'd be taking calls, then instead, ended up talking to himself instead.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I like how he always says "I've got Joe, Bill, Steve, & a cast of thousands on hold..." then he'll babble all hour and then take like one call 30 seconds before the top of the hour news. But then again with the halfwits that end up getting on the air it's all kind of a wash anyway.

Let's face it, "Freeway" Mike McCarter deserves a show more than this guy. At least that would be entertaining.

And run off the air by the FCC in about 10 minutes. "WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THAT? HMMM, HMMM, MICHAEL JORDAN WON 6 CHAMPIONSHIPS, HOW COME THE BUCKS CAN'T WIN A PLAYOFF GAME?

Best way to rid yourself of him, start talking hockey and he will turn and walk away. I say this having been followed through Gold's Pick'n'Save twice by him.

There has got to be a backstory to this. And i really want to hear it.

As for Michaels, he is the main reason why i listen to chicago sports radio. They never talk about the Brewers(or any milwaukee sport really), however they are entertaining atleast. Which is more than i can say for the big unit.

When I lived in Wisconsin, TMJ still had Len Casper, and John Jaegler (sp?) would also do sports from time to time. I loved listening to the Greene House back then... they oftentimes had me rolling. I was lucky enough to leave once Michaels replaced Casper (and sorta Jeff Reardon, whom I heart) full time. That guy sucks, and I'm sorry you have to listen to him.

I enjoy Michaels when I'm in town, but I definitely was a much bigger Len Kasper fan. Michaels is easily the best in game host, but that doesn't say much. Milwaukee could do worse on the radio, though

I actually don't mind the guys on "Wisconsin's Sports Weekend"...at least they are somewhat knowledgeable about the Brewers and sound like they pay attention to the games, unlike Michaels who usually just blathers about some of the stuff on the surface, and doesn't really seem to be in tune with what's going on with the team as a whole.

I often wondered if he had a relative well placed at TMJ. There is no other way to explain why he still has a job at one of the biggest stations in the state. When Harry Sydney and Chris Havel have better baseball takes than you it's time to give it up.
There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

When he first started, I seriously thought for the longest time his name was the "Big Eunuch", so I've called him that ever since. He doesn't excite me too much, and I go either way on him. I was listening last night as he was reading the e-mails and it was just annoying. But, what do you do other than turn the radio off?
