If you could have one (or two) sports questions answered with absolute certainty...

InsomniacInkRoss

You can get one (or two) questions answered and know the absolute truth involving sports, what are you asking? 1 question that there is an answer too, 1 questions to a hypothetical question, but you would get the truth.

I thought up this question without really wanting one answered, but, my first thoughts

- How much fixing/controlling/meddling does David Stern actually do in the NBA?

- Would the the Packers have beaten the Patriots if they played in Super Bowl 42?

Davego took my question.

I guess my other question would have been - Would Moises Alou have caught that foul ball if Bartman did not interfere, and if so, would they have won game 6?

edit: Now that I think of it I have so many questions regarding PEDs. It would be hard to pick two. How many HRs were hit because of PEDs? How many players were using during the hight of PED use? How many, if any, current players are still attempting to use PEDs? How many players in other sports have been using PEDs and how has it effected those sports?

edit 2: Ok, I know the original post ask for one or two...but I just keep thinking of more, including was Shoeless Joe really part of the conspiracy in the Black Sox scandle?

Did the ball hit the ground on Franco Harris' Immaculate Reception?

A lot of mine were already said, here are a few others:

"What really happened between Prince Fielder and Manny Parra in the dugout in 2008?"

"What was all said during that 7 hour meeting in the summer of 2008 between Ted Thompson, Mike McCarthy and Brett Favre?"

What if the Bucks drafted Grant Hill/Jason Kidd? What if the Bucks drafted Chris Paul? What if Bucks drafted B. Lopez?

Same idea, but with Barry Sanders and the Packers.

And I hope this doesn't come off bad or insulting, but how many professional athletes are gay? And who? I'm just curious here, that is all.

How would major sports history have changed with integrated play from the beginning?

That's a great one. I've often wondered how guys like Josh Gibson or Satchel Paige would ahve done if they had played their entire careers in an integrated league.

Going along that same line,

What would Vladislav Tretiak, Vyacheslav Fetisov, Valerei Karlamov, Vsevolod Bobrov et. al been able to do in the NHL?

How many home runs would Sadaharu Oh been able to hit in MLB? (my uneducated guess is 500)

Did the Babe really call his shot?

What would the career numbers for DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Bob Feller, and Hank Greenberg been like if they had not served in the military and missed years of playing time?

Alou has said he would not have caught the ball, and many others, including myself, always thought he would not have been close. Since it did not fit the narrative, it was ignored.

And, pitching injuries are caused by throwing the ball in an unnatural motion thousands of times. Softball pitchers rarely get injured.

As for which pro athletes are gay, I'm sure about the same % as is elsewhere, which is anywhere from 2-10%, depending on which survey you believe. I'm shocked no active player has come out, as it would barely make the press after the first one or two...much like minority coaches/managers. I never knew SEA's manager was a native American, for example.

I didn't know you were appointed to be the guru on the mountaintop, giving us the answers http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Since it's on ESPN (or used to be, at least), it's a sport, so I'll go with:

If I take my year's salary and take it to a casino and put it on one hand of blackjack, will I win the next hand dealt by the dealer? (same question could apply for hold-'em poker, I suppose.)

How about, would the Packers beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl had they defeated the Giants in OT?

Or, would Kansas City still have won the World Series if Dekinger got the call correct at first base?

How would baseball in Milwaukee be different had the Braves never left town?

One I was thinking of today: "How would the '08 playoff series have turned out if Suppan hadn't started Game 4 versus the Phillies?"
Not too many days go by when I don't think about that. If Gallardo starts that game maybe we win game 4 and then anything can happen in game 5 with CC on the mound.

Or what if Sheets was healthy in the 08' playoffs? Hmmm. If only.

I think the house advantage in blackjack is less than 1% if played perfectly...however, if you put all your money on one hand, you lose the double down advantage.

Poker depends on how many folks are in the hand, can't help you there.
