Link Report for Thurs. 6/17

Final: Huntsville 13, Montgomery (Rays) 4

Huntsville Boxscore

Well Mark Rogers no hit Montgomery for 5 innings, unfortunately he also walked 5 batters, gave up 1 earned run, while striking out 5. It's a broken record but his BB rate is really the only thing holding Mark back. Lucas Luetge made it back after the rain delay hit halfway through his first inning of work, he pitched 1.2 innings and gave 2 unearned runs on 2 hits, 1 BB, and 3 Ks. Eddie Morlan pitched the final 2.1 innings to notch his 2nd save. He allowed a single hit, no walks, and struck out 4. Offensively Brett Lawrie was a monster going 4-5 with a 2B, his OPS has been floating around .800 for some time now, but was overshadowed by Steffan Wilson who went 3-5 with a 2B and 2 HRs! Lorenzo Cain and Lee Haydel added multi hit games, Dayton Buller and Haydel tripled, and Zelous Wheeler add his own HR to round out the XBHs. Thankfully the offense overshadowed the poor defense, Wilson (3), Wheeler 2 (19), and Green (9) all had errors in the game. Cain better get a bump up to AAA after the break.

It look like Rogers wasn't getting much help from his friends. A baserunner gets 2 bases on a wild pitch and then score on an error, then the next inning a runner scores from 2nd on a groundout. How does that happen?

Oh well, its great to see that no one can hit Rogers, I'd rather have a prospect that gives up lots of walks than lots of hits. Rogers is a terrific pitching prospect.
