What's bugging you? (2006)

Amen about the Cigarettes and crossing Johnson and University.

Luckily, neither my dorm nor any of my classes are over in that area, so I don't have to deal with it too much.

As for the smoking, the few weeks that I've been on campus, the number of smokers has really amazed me

I'm originally from Madison and had been downtown tons of times, but I never really realized all the smokers until I started living here.

I hate second-hand smoke.

I never realized how many smokers there were until the smoking ban forced smokers outside. I live by the Great Dane downtown, and when I walk past, especially late evening, I have to walk passed the mass of smokers huddled by the door. I like the smoking ban, but I don't like the smokers outside and all of the cigarette butts they just throw on the sidewalk when they are done smoking.

While kind of on the topic of clothes: As someone who has to wear a shirt and tie at a minimum every day, the price of men's dress clothes bothers me.

Shopping last night for a new dress shirt to go with a new suit and tie (which were a few hundred as it was) and finding medium-quality shirts for 35-45 dollars a piece was pretty absurd. Went to about 4 different stores before finally finding something on sale for about 20 bucks. Yech.

No requirement for below the waist? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I'm really sorry. I couldn't resist.

Peavey, next time give the Lands End stores a chance. (inlet out by the west side Target, and even the seconds' store on State) Not that you and I are looking for the same styles, but they have become my primary outfitter, and might represent a better match of quality + price than what you tried last night (before finding the sale).

If the State St. Lands End didn't exist, I'd either have dramatically fewer clothes or dramatically less money (because I'd have had to find clothes elsewhere).

Now, I wear designer jeans ((Diesel, Armani, and Ben Sherman commonly)) and they cost me 115-130 a pair.

I'd be afraid to wear them and get them dirty.

It completely blows my mind that people will pay this much for jeans. I know people do it and it's a style thing, but I can buy 5 pairs of jeans for that price.

Three more:

  • Styrofoam.
  • When the national media refer to Milwaukee's largest university as "Wisconsin-Milwaukee". How about "UWM"?
  • "Employees at Menards who almost seem to be trained not to help customers.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

The Badgers are not major in your opinion?

Badger basketball and football yes, hockey no. I was at the Badger men's hockey title game, and that was great, but I don't consider it "major". I think the basketball team has a real chance to challenge for the national title, but I'll believe it when I see it.

NBC showing encore presentations of all of their new shows. Friday Night Lights was on last night. If I can't watch it during its normal time slot, don't rub it in by showing me what I'm always missing. If anything, show encores of The Office or something.

I guess it's more the consumer that doesn't realize they can buy much better than abercrombie for the same price or less.

After $50 or so, you are only paying for the designer name anyway. If abercrombie can get more money for their label, they are apparently "better" than their counterparts.

How 'bout people trying to "jazz up" the national anthem by trying to hit notes they can never hit and more importantly screwing up the words. As far as I know the lyrics haven't changed in the last 200 years.Sing it right or get off the stage! Oh yeah, Colin Cowherd bugs me too, that guy should be shot.

people who drive Dodge Neons and "pimp" or "trick" them out..first of all, your car isn't cool, and after you put hundreds or thousands more in it, your car still isn't cool...if someone on here has one, I'm sorry, its just not cool..

and on a side note: loud exhausts are really freaking annoying

The PA voice on the Madison Metro buses drives me nuts.

That's where we differ (respectfully, of course). I like the bus voice. It sounds soothing, on the routes I take at least. The main route I take has been detoured for seven weeks and the detoured stops lack the voice. I actually have to look out the window to see how close my stop is. That's been bugging me.

Also, the detour was supposed to last two weeks (somehow they thought they could rebuild an intersection in two weeks); and they started a day early, which meant we didn't know about the detour until after it began. That bugged me. It's supposed to end on Monday, though. If it's pushed back again, that will bug me.

On a Friday afternoon when I'm already a bit logy, this is hilarious.

The "musical" introduction for Sunday Night Football on NBC: Pink. This introduction song is absolutely horrible on the ears, but did anybody tell NBC that Pink really isn't that "hip" anymore? It's awful, awful, awful. NBC is trying to become too much like ABC's Monday Night Football with the "new" horse trailor award (rock star of the week) and calling the NBC studios "30 Rock", when the matchups are good enough to just forget the bells and whistles.

But most of all, I can't stand that Pink song on SNF.

The Twins with the 5th best record in the AL winning the World Series in1987 still bugs me. I'm glad the A's eliminated them.

When people say the Brewers haven't been a contender since 1982 when they made serious playoff runs in 1983, 1987, 1988, 1992.
