Will wolf come out for the 8th?

I wish he would have. Macha has no problem pushing Gallardo past 110 and sometimes to 120, Narveson past 100 and up to 130 and a non stretched out Parra past 100 but he won't push Wolf past 100?

Well looks like I picked a hell of a game to sleep through. The Brewers actually lead off the 5 am sportscenter. They pretty much showed the two homers, the beaning of CMac and the hard slide. Then talked about retaliation causing the injury and bad blood between the teams. Didn't look like a terribly dirty slide to me.

Can't believe the crew made the lead over big Al getting nicked on his helmet by a throw home, and an EARTHQUAKE at the pads game.

Casey's slide didn't seem dirty to me at all. Yes it was a bit late, but 99% of big leaguers make that slide right there. The bad throw had more to do with that injury.

Most fans on Angels fan forums are cursing Casey and calling him bush league, and believe he intentionally wanted to hurt Aybar. Poppycock.

First of all...SoCal BrewCrew Fan - get your child back to more games! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif She, and you, are obviously part of the glue that holds the Brewers together.

Secondly, I finally saw the clip of Casey's home run Torii's miss, and naturally felt the need to do a small "sieve" chant here in my office.

And bad blood? Really? Because of the long bitter rivalry between these two teams? They weren't even the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim when they lost the ALCS in 1982. Or was it the cheese sandwich game of 2004? Counsell scored that run, after all.

Anyway - feel free to keep up the effectiveness, Brewers.

Watching last night Casey's slide did seem kinda bush to me in that it was awfully late. Like he was trying to take out his frustrations on getting hit.

I disagree that he was trying to actually hurt anyone, though--spikes weren't up, et cetera.

That said I won't be surprised to see someone get beaned tonight.

From Witrado;

“I got hit by a pitch, it hurt,” McGehee said. “But if you ask if I went in extra hard because I got hit, no. I was going into second base, making a slide, making sure he couldn’t turn a double play. Unfortunately the guy was in an awkward position. Look at the video.”

The Angels did just that, and after initially being upset at the play, manager Mike Scioscia and Hunter both said the slide was clean.

“That’s something that’s a lost art in this game,” Hunter said. “The league is getting softer but I like the way he was playing the game.”

Yup it sure looked like Fielder expected Macha to do something. I would have liked to see a shot of what Macha was doing when Fielder was looking into the dugout. I hate hate hate hate hate it when home plate umpires don't check with the base umps on check swings.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

I don't know how anyone can call Casey's slide dirty. How was he supposed to know that Aybar was going to go back to touch the base? When a runner is breaking up a double play, he is looking at the base and the infielders legs, you assume that the infielder will catch the ball and hop over you. Casey slid directly over the base with no roll or popup. It was a textbook example of how you should cleanly break up a double play.

The Union had ESPN on at lunch (in advance of World Cup coverage) and I was dismayed to see how they tried to make Casey look like a Bad Man: black and white photo with his quote about it being a clean slide superimposed over it. Boo. On the bright side, the Rathskeller was so full of people I couldn't hear whatever audio they played with it.

I think maybe the atmosphere surrounding it added to the impression. Casey had just been hit and the feed had shown him muttering angrily about it for quite some time before the play--it was commented on repeatedly. As he came in to second base I thought, "Well, this should be interesting."

The only real problem I have with it is how late it was--it was a clean slide, no doubt, but from his angle I assume Casey could see Aybar was in a weird position and had no throw.

Hey hawing...I think we may be the luckiest Brewers fans on the

planet...3 games this year and they've scored 11 or more in each! Can't

make Tuesday, but it sure would be nice to get another one when we go

back on Wednesday.

It was great to be back at the Big A...it had been years. When the

Brewers used to play there it was still enclosed for football, but when

they opened up the outfield stands it really changed the stadium for the

better. Quite a few Brewers fans at the game last night, although not

as many as at the Dodgers games...maybe the team is losing a little mo.

By the end of the game there were about 20-30 of us that made it down by

the dugout. We were cheering the boys on pretty hard. We had a nice "Corey, Corey" chant going while he was getting interviewed.

They were really laying into Casey on the Angels postgame show. Their big gripe was there was no way they could get the DP so the hard slide wasn't necessary. It happened pretty quick so I couldn't really tell at the game. By then the Angels fans were heading for the exits they weren't on the Brewers too much. They tend to be a fairly tame bunch anyways.
