The T-Rats might get rained out yet again for a Televised game. It's not raining hard, but it's not letting up. Time Warner is a curse!

edit. And let me add that it stinks I have Dish Network and can never watch the games.

Chris just said they are going to wait an hour and see what happens with the weather, officially in a rain delay.

Odorizzi was not very good tonight. Might have been the hour long delay but he couldn't locate at all.

I love D'Vo's tools, I hope he figures out to how to hit consistently.

There have been so many times already this season Chris thought the ball was in the gap and D'Vo manages to run it down anyway.

Final: Brevard County 12, Daytona (Cubs) 8

Game Summary from the Daytona Site:

Daytona Drops Series Finale 12-8

Cubs Comeback Not Enough

By Nathan Moore

The Daytona Cubs (29-32) lost 12-8 to the Brevard County Manatees (23-36). The Cubs rallied from seven runs down after the fifth inning, but it wasn't enough to sweep the series.

The Manatees struck first in this contest as starter Brooks Raley struggled early. Josh Prince hit a ground ball to Ryan Flaherty to start the game and the shortstop mishandled the ball for a leadoff error. Prince was brought home as Logan Schafer doubled to left-center field and Schafer was the second run plated in the inning as he scored off a ground ball RBI off the bat of Sean Halton.

Brevard County did not wait long to add on to their lead. The Manatees came up in the third inning and plated two more runs to extend the lead. A walk to Schafer and a Halton home run scored the runs. This was Halton's fourth long ball of the season (all in his last five games).

Daytona finally struck the scoreboard with a single tally in the fourth inning off back to back doubles from D.J. LeMahieu and Flaherty. The RBI double from Flaherty was his 15th double of the season.

Manatees' starter Michael Fiers was dominant enough, but got even more run support in the top of the fifth inning. The Cubs had to crack into the bullpen when Raley allowed three of the first four runners to reach base. Marco Carillo in relief for Daytona allowed a two RBI single to Halton scoring Schafer and Prince. The inning was capped on another two RBI single from catcher Anderson De La Rosa to extend the Manatees lead to 8-1.

The Cubs would not back down and scored three runs of their own off Manatee reliever Dan Meadows. With two on and one out Flaherty tripled driving in Brett Jackson and LeMahieu. Rebel Ridling added a sacrifice fly to cap off the three-run attack to bring the D-Cubs a little closer at 8-4.

Daytona's rally wouldn't stop as they struck for another four runs in the 7th and 8th innings. David Macias grounded out to Manatee second baseman Matt Cline to drive in Smailey Borges in the 7th off Manatees reliever Brandon Ritchie. In the 8th inning off R.J. Seidel the D-Cubs struck again as Ridling added a two RBI double and Borges added a one-out RBI single to tie the game at 8-8. In the top of the ninth inning in an electric packed Jackie Robinson Ballpark, the game suddenly went awry. Chris Siegfried was sent out to preserve the tie ballgame for Daytona, but an early walk, a costly error, and multiple base-runners were too much to handle. Brock Kjeldgaard continued his impressive series plating two more runs in the top of the ninth to give the Manatees the lead right back at 12-8.

So the Cubs rallied late, but the bullpen couldn't hold. Siegfried (1-3) took the loss in the ninth innings and Seidel (2-0) picked up the win.

Brevard County Box Score

We'll get formalities out of the way and indicate that Kentrail Davis hasn't played since June 2nd, despite no DL stint this time around; OK, on to this contest -- on the mound, Michael Fiers flashed dominance indeed, striking out seven and walking none in five two-hit, one-run innings, and new closer Andre Lamontagne continued to impress, up from Wisconsin; the three middle relievers, all mentioned above, combined to allow seven Cub runs in their three innings; Fiers, who will turn 25 on the 15th of this month, now has a 74-to-18 K/BB ratio in 71 innings, with a .207 BAA. I just love the fact the Brewers chose to move him to the rotation this season, and hope he gets a bump to AA soon -- by the way, it's now the All-Star Break for the FSL (game at Space Coast this weeekend)...

At the plate, Logan Schafer scored four runs after reaching on two doubles and two walks; Sean Halton drove in five runs as he works to place himself squarely in the future Brewer first base mix discussion; Sergio Miranda doubled among his three base knocks; Brock Kjeldgaard reached base three times, Josh Prince, Juan Sanchez, and Anderson De La Rosa twice each -- Prince added a sac fly; 12 hits, seven walks and two HBP's -- awesome way for the boys to hit the break...

While the ASG is this weekend, I don't believe this marks the reset of the first-half / second-half schedule and standings -- we'll drop a note to the 'Tees front office to confirm. as we're looking forward to resetting that divisional race.

Brevard County Game Log

The boys were 6-for-13 with RISP, which makes for a non-frustrating read...

I'm really starting to like Kris Davis as well, he just homered again.

ive been pleasantly surprised with D'Vo this season. he is hitting better then i thought he would considering he basically took a year off from playing baseball, not great but it seems like its starting to come around. the strikeouts are still high and he needs to learn how to use his wheels on the base path but like you said TC07 he has serious tools.

Come on Dell finish it off, you've pitched so well...

edit. Are you kidding me? A bunt single to bring home the tying run against Howell. Shenanigans TB! Shenanigans.
