Triple Crown By Committee

Bombers

I am sure this has happened before but the Brewers, if Braun picks up the slack, would be on pace for the triple crown by committee. Braun - AVG, McGehee - RBI's, Hart - HR's. I wonder how often this has been done before? I could see a team with two players representing the 3 categories but 3 different players holds some uniqueness. And I know it's only June http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

That's right, I'd be willing to bet that Hart and McGehee won't even lead the Brewers in HR and RBI respectively.

Very interesting question, I couldnt figure out how to search this on the bb-ref play index, but I wasted some time to find the 1902 NL Pittsburgh Pirates:

Ginger Beaumont .357

Tommy Leach 6 HR

Honus Wagner 91 RBI

They won the pennant by 27.5 games.

A few others that missed were Aaron and Mathews in 1959; Oliva and Killebrew a few times; Ruth and Gehrig; Cobb and Crawford; Boggs, Rice and Armas came close in 1983, and probably many more.

To have 3 players do that would be an oddity. Typically, your HR guy is also a high RBI guy. So having two players (HR/RBI and AVE) do it would seem easier than three.

And thanks for giving us something to cheer for! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
