Minor League Transactions

Brewer Fanatic Staff

Here is the link to our transaction thread for the pre-June draft portion of the regular season.

Hope you've all been following along with our, dare we say, pretty spectacular draft coverage over on the Draft Forum. battlekow, colbyjack, and the gang have been going great guns. Over the next couple of days, in addition to all the "get-to-know-these-kids" postings you're seeing there now, look for all the post-draft newspaper coverage and such on all the draftees, and when those updates include actual signings, you'll see additional updates here as we welcome the newest members of the Brewer family to the fold.

Of course, this thread will also continue to chronicle all the day-to-day moves within the system.

MiLB.com reports that reliever Brian Bruney has been transferred from extended spring to Nashville. We believe the Sounds will need to announce a corresponding move later today in order to remain at the 24-man AAA roster limit.

Surely, especially with so many college picks and the need to field full squads at Helena and Maryvale shortly, the Brewers will announce en masse most of their early signings within a few days.

battlekow updated the initial post (players in bold) in our Official Draft Pick Selection / Signing Thread last night with three signings (as of this post) he learned about.

Brewerfan Player Index Pages will be in place for all the new signees just as the Pioneer and Arizona Summer Leagues start.

Huntsville Media Release:

OF/1B Drew Anderson has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to June 10. In 12 games with Huntsville this year, Anderson is batting .279 (12-for-43) with one home run and six RBI.

There is no corresponding move at this time. With this move, the Stars active roster is at 23, one below the Southern League limit of 24.

Nashville Media Notes:

OLMEDO ACTIVATED FROM D.L.; ANDERSON RELEASED: Infielder Ray Olmedo returns to action this evening after spending a week on the Sounds’ disabled list. Prior to his injury, the veteran had hit safely in 32 of his last 38 games at a .309 clip (47-for-152), including multiple hits in five of his last 10 contests. To make room for Olmedo on the roster, outfielder Josh Anderson has been released.

Tough week for Anderson's -- Drew to the Huntsville DL, Josh released. Josh Anderson (stats) hit .245 in 49 AB's (.574 OPS) while with Nashville and has now been released by both Cincinnati and Milwaukee in 2010.

On another note, while MiLB.com indicated that new reliever Brian Bruney had been activated on the Sounds' roster from extended spring training, apparently that's not the case quite yet.

RHPs Eric Arnett, whose struggles you're well familar with, and Jose Sanchez were transferred from Wisconsin to Arizona.

RHP Evan Anunsen, who's missed

the whole season so far with shoulder problems, was activated off

Huntsville's DL and transferred to Brevard County.

OF Kentrail Davis, who wasn't on

the DL but hasn't played since June 2nd, was transferred from Brevard

County to Wisconsin, as was LHP Matt

Costello.

OF Franklin Romero was transferred from Wisconsin to Helena.

OF Scott Krieger was activated from BC's DL.

Disappointing on the Arnett/Davis front. I wonder if the Arizona transfer indicates he is going for instructionals to refine mechanics in a controlled environment, as the pitching through it approach hasn't worked. Kentrail and Khris Davis should provide for some nice offense and maybe help the T-Rats out a bit, not to mention some headaches for announcers/fans trying to discern which K. Davis is playing what OF position, and which is batting 3rd or 4th.

That leaves an opening at BC.

It's not discussed in this interview, but Nashville lefty reliever A.J. Murray can become a free agent if he's not with the Brewers on June 15 (tomorrow, Tuesday). That's not going to happen, so just tossing that out there should Murray think the grass is greener elsewhere.

From that same McCalvy link --

Outfielder Trent Oeltjen can walk away if he is not in the Majors within 48 hours of July 1.

Well Dykstra was demoted and has come back hitting well, though his defense still leaves much to be desired. Davis should have been in WI all along, hopefully Arnett can pull a "Dykstra" upon his return trip. Yes, I really did just give Dykstra some love... and no I haven't come around on that pick at all.
