I really can't stand Gomez in the 2 hole or Kottaras in the 8 hole, even against a lefty. In the minors, Kottaras put up these splits:

vs. R: .261/.361/.449/.810 (1099 AB's)

vs. L: .265/.353/.408/.761 (431 AB's)

In the majors,

vs. R: .229/.326/.438/.764 (144 PA's)

vs. L: .216/.423/.405/.828 (52 PA's)

Of course I don't expect him to put up a reverse platoon split, but I'd still like to see him a little higher in the order.

15 minutes to the first pitch and we've got 4 posts...

While I'm looking forward to watching some baseball, I can't get my usual hatred going for the vile vermin of Wrigleyville. I'm sure once somebody posts about having their kids insulted by some drunken frat boy in Cubs gear that will change. Until then...when are the Brewers going to DFA Suppan and get back to the pennant drive?!?

Since we obviously are not making the playoffs, why not just lead Gomez off and see what happens? If he struggles and doesnt draw any walks, who cares? Just like with Parra lets just keep throwing him out there and see if he sticks

As long as Weeks is batting 2nd I wouldn't mind that.

I don't see what can be learned by putting Gomez into the lead-off spot that can't be learned from putting him in the bottom of the order. The same goes for Escobar.

Giving him more at bats.

I think I'd let him get a few more starts against tough righties over Edmonds if they choose to go that route. I guess I'm pretty bearish on Gomez at this point, I can't stand his approach at the plate right now.

I have no idea why, but the Gomez bat flip regardless of where he hits the ball drives me nuts, why not just drop the bat like everyone else?

It has to slow him down out of the box to flip the bat.
