Not just one of the best basketball coaches, one of the best coaches period.

Rest in peace sir, I've read all your books and you've made a positive impact on my life even though I never had the opportunity to meet you. Thank you.

I've never seen players, years and years after a guy coached them, collectively visit, discuss, and rave about a former coach the way the guys who played under Wooden did.

Truly one of the greatest ever.

Loved the guy....great coach, great writer, great teacher. Cannot say anything bad about him.

A funny story that makes me smile - Wooden once said that the dunk was the worst invention to basketball, because now the fans would rather see a bad shooter who can dunk versus a guy who can light it up with the jumpshot. In fact he called for the dunk to be outlawed....

A very classy man who will definately be missed. Highly doubt that his coaching records (championships, championship winning streaks, etc) will be broken.

Seconded. I was really saddened when I saw this news today. The positive spin on it, though, is that he lived about as full a life as anyone could imagine. Knowing his mindset, I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't even sad that it was his time to move on. R.I.P. Mr. Wooden -- your coaching legend is only surpassed by your class as a human being.

Lets all hope we can make it to 99.

So many guys just cherished him. He really made a huge impact on the lives of his players and those in his circle.

Rest In Peace
