2010-06-02 Brewers (Gallardo) at Marlins (Volstad), 6:10 PM CDT [Brewers win, 7-4]

Kottaras has 16 hits on the season, 12 of them are for XBHs, my gut tells me it's a fluke but he does sport an impressive OBP and OPS at this time.

Anybody listening to the game on XM? The 1st 15,000 fans at some Saturday game get a Marlins air horn. That doesn't sound like the greatest of ideas to me.

Well, this is the same marketing department who decided it would be a good idea to sell tickets for Roy Halladay's already completed perfect game.

The best part? His BABIP entering tonight was .200. He should probably be hitting much better than he already is.

What can the club lose by selling those tickets (besides sounding silly)? I just think it will be interesting to see which tickets sell hotter, the premium seats or the nosebleeds. Personally, I don't see the allure of having an unused ticket from a perfect game, but if I were a memorabilia collector I might feel differently. Heck, if they sell 1000 of these, that's an easy $15,000.

Not really, 5 of those hits are HRs, which of course don't count for the metric so you're only left with 7 hits.

And I jumped away from the TV here for the bottom of the 8th and had to rewind the DVR but I like what Macha just did here in the 8th going to Axford right away. This is exactly the type of thing I've been hoping to see.

Earlier, I caught the replay of Gallardo's homer on MLB Network. My wife saw it too, and the first thing she said was, "Is that in practice?"

I had to inform her that she was seeing an actual Marlins home crowd.

gypcasino's post prompted me to check the Marlins' promotion schedule, and it is bizarrely full of sound-making promotions:

Marlins Air Horn (June 19)

Marlins Cow Bell (July 17)

Marlins Rally Drum (July 24)

Marlins Samba Whistle (August 7)

Marlins Clapper (August 21)

Marlins Latin Cow Bell (September 18)

Marlins Thunder Sticks (October 2)

Among the past promotions:

Another thunder sticks giveaway on May 1

Marlins Maraca (May 15)

Marlins Tambourine (May 29)

Also, nice job, Brewers. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.
