Another pitcher, this time college, James Nelson.

Yeah, that's what I was planning on using. But, it's not updating for me. Still only shows the comp round.

He throws harder than Suppan topping out at 94, but his secondary pitches are similar, none of his pitches have good life according the MLB scouting report

Funny, Suppan was the first person I thought of when the announcers said "a mid-to-back end of the rotation guy who won't light up the radar but will give you 200 innings."

"The most successful (people) know that performance over the long haul is what counts. If you can seize the day, great. But never forget that there are days yet to come."

Maybe they won't be able to sign Allie and we can re-draft him with a top pick next year.
Can't be drafted next year.

My bad, your right. Either way I hope Pitt doesn't sign him as I think he will be a good one.

I wonder what the scouting reports were on Pujols when he was drafted in the 13th round?

I doubt any of them said "has the potenial to develope into the best hitter of his generation".......

Honestly....if the brewers really think Nelson's upside is Jeff Suppan why would they take him in the 2nd round?

High draft choices are for kids that have the chance to be difference makers not back of the rotation inning eaters.....you can get those guys later.

A second round pick who would throw 2400 major league innings with an ERA+ of 97? I'd take it. Remember that Suppan was a better than average starter for a good number of years...most 2nd rounders are far less productive. Suppan himself was a 2nd round pick of course...he was easily the second best guy from that round that year (behind Rolen), and would have been in the top half of first rounders. A large fraction of 2nd rounders never even sniff the majors...
