2010-05-30 Mets (Dickey) at Brewers (Wolf), 1:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 10-4]

I'm waiting for the crowd to start chanting D-F-A! Now that would be something.
Oh, sorry. I guess I could have started the chant, but I'm not sure enough of the casual fans around me would have known what I was talking about.

I really do try to keep an open mind and not be an out-and-out hater. I didn't join in on the boos (no one who was making an "oooo" noise was saying Sooouuup). But if this game didn't illustrate to the organization why using Jeff anymore is a problem - much less in a close game - I don't know what will. His appearance took the life out of the crowd (except for those who still had energy to boo, which isn't the kind of "life" you want out of your audience). I remarked on this to our usher, and he asked if I'd noticed how the body language of the position players changed once Soup was doing his thing. Indeed, he had a point.

I understand that the alternatives weren't numerous or terrific, but putting Suppan in a close game appears to be tantamount to waving the white flag. It damages fan morale for sure, and very possibly team morale as well. Stop the madness. I'd rather see the Brewers get nothing more out of their $12+ million than continue to get negative value.

OK, with that behind me...bummer to see the blowup inning for Braddock, but maybe (hawing said hopefully) this was his "bad inning" and the woes are behind him. In any case, seeing a newbie struggle doesn't bother me nearly as much as...some.

Also, Jonathan Lucroy must have checked the internets enough since Tuesday to learn of my fan crush on him, as in his long 9th inning at-bat he did his best to deliver a foul ball souvenir directly to our section. Had I reached for the one that came closest to me (and bounced off the stair next to me hard enough to carom back to the field level), I would have lost a finger.

Well - the trip to Florida this time last year certainly changed courses for the 2009 Brewers. Maybe it will change course for them in 2010.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Just to bring a little happiness into today's IGT:

It was very nice to see Capuano with the team. The Brewers even made him the answer to the Triple Play Trivia.

Nice picture, Hawing! We could see the top step of the dugout from our seats. Cappy pretty much sat on the top step all game. He was the first guy to greet Suppan when he came in and gave him the traditional butt slap.

I tried to use the iPhone app to diagnose Inglett's batting music, but I timed it wrong so I still don't know what it is. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif

Just got back from the game. Soup was booed mercilessly. I don't remember who posted it, but I can't remember the last time somebody got booed this bad. I didn't boo myself, but I wasn't sad to see him get booed however.

I too saw Cappy and was pleasantly surprised to see all the Cappy Jerseys in the stands.

And for the record, I did not bring the broom, Hawing

Don't think I wasn't thinking of you and your crazy broom talk from the Saturday chat. But now we can saddle Suppan with this loss, which is more appropriate.

Intentionally walking Reyes to get to Castillo? Oof.
Macha seriously needs to stop intentionally walking the bases loaded. I don't care what the results are. You force your pitcher to throw strikes or walk in a fun. The batters know this as does everybody in the stadium. How IBB and sac bunts are used they are the stupidest strategies in all of baseball.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

It irritates me to read posters highlight the fact that they didn't boo a player, but enjoyed seeing others do it. Does it somehow make you a "better fan" because you didn't physically boo him? No.

If a guy has a 7+ ERA, makes $12.5 million, routinely gives up multiple runs in his outings, and puts fans through "I actually felt pretty good today" quotes after horrible performances instead of saying "I sucked" patience wears real thin. That's your right as a fan and its his responsibility to perform well if he doesn't want to hear the boos (which he probably convinces himself are really "Sooooooooups" to sleep well at night).

On the positive side of that, Braddock did work out of the inning with two on by striking out Bay and Ike Davis. Watched Davis take bp and that guy can hit a baseball. Watched Zach pitch, and he seemed to get the fastball hit at around 93, but was good above that. They were leaving him out there to take his beating, and he closed it out well! I think he looks good in the Brewer uni, and can't wait for him to settle in!

What? Was I suppose to boo?
