2010-05-27 Astros (Myers) at Brewers (Bush), 12:10 PM CDT [Brewers win, 4-3, 10 innings]

You would have called for his head if he tried that and failed. This is not little league, that stuff rarely works. This is a little commical

I wouldn't have called for his head for attempting to manage. I'm calling for his head for being dead on arrival when it comes to making decisions, any decisions, that will impact the ball game. My point is simple. At home, tied, where's the harm in trying something that, even if it doesn't work, keeps you tied and with the potential final at-bat?

Because it takes the sac fly out of the equation. I just don't think it's an effective play and I don't think they are concerned with the runner on 1st because he means nothing to the game. So they will either have a play on or the catcher will fake to 2nd and throw to third. Either way I don't think it produces a run.

I understand you want Macha do do more but I think there is a time and a place for it. I'm up for manufactoring runs or trying a trick play every once and awhile but probably not in that situation. Numbers were in our favor that we'd be able to score him.

As for a squeeze, I could see that if our best player wasn't up.

Especially (a) the way we've been lately in the clutch
Considering that the Brewers had already come back to tie the game, as well as the huge comeback in Minnesota over the weekend, I can't find anything to criticize about their "clutch" play lately.

I am going to go ahead and Name Brad Mills my MVP for this game. He made the biggest plays by playing his infield in allowing us to get the tying run and left his closer out to dry when he had lost it in the 10th inning. If his infield had been playing at a decent depth I think there is a game ending DP instead of a single down the line for Gomez. I really wish our manager would quit playing the infield in to cut down the run at the plate. Others managers can do it against us though. 40+ pitches over 2 innings for your one inning guy, ouch. I think it is safe to say Mills can go in the same"poor manager" bucket with Macha.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

True but the Phillies have a much greater margin of error as well.

If Craig Counsell is your only hitter left on your bench and available to hit... WHY IN THE HECK do you use him to SAC BUNT?
