Mark DiFelice

Recommended Posts

I assume he's out for all of '10. Given he is far from wealthy, I assume he'll try to come back.

I have to say, watching Estrada made me think of DiFelice. Not that they're the same pitchers or anything, Marco's got more legit stuff throwing in the low 90's, but both attack hitters and keep them off balance.

I really hope Mark gets to throw again. He is THE NICEST GUY..!! I got to know him while he was here in Nashville and he always took the time to stop and talk before the games. His last year here right before the Sept 1 call ups my girlfriend and the lady that sits next to us sang him Happy Birthday. He was sooo red.. but loved every minute of it.

Yeah, it's so much cooler rooting for guys who are just genuinely NICE guys...guys who appreciate the gift that's been given them. Even Mark DiFelice who hasn't made a lot in baseball terms has made a INCREDIBLY healthy living, and you can see a true appreciation and humility in guys like that.

That's part of the reason everyone loves Cappy. He strikes you as that same type of guy. Of course if you throw the ball like Suppan, you can only be SO nice and still be a fan favorite....http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I'd love to see him back, but if he never pitches again the lasting memory I'll have of him is him throwing his arms up in the air after fooling both Derek Lee (IIRC) and the home plate umpire with his cutter that was ruled a ball, walking home the winning run at Chicago. One of the worst calls I can remember in recent Brewer history.

Absolutely TERRIBLE call.

Really just about the worst call I can remember as well.

Especially for a game winning walk, a 10-12 pitch at bat, whatever it was, you HAVE to give the pitcher the call there if it's close, and that one wasn't. It was right down the heart of the plate and while it was on the upper half of the zone, it was clearly in the zone against the 6'5 Derek Lee.

That one still pisses me off thinking about it.
