21. Alcides Escobar, Brewers SS. The slick fielder isn't the

reason for the Brewers' recent collapse. He's hitting just .241 but has

12 extra-base hits, including five triples. Some say he still needs to

mature, though, both on the field and off it.

Ranked number 21 kind of sucks. Has anyone heard that he needs to mature off the field?

Ha that's funny. I was just PMing with a fellow poster and we are discussing Escobar, I literally just sent back a message telling him that Escobar still seems immature to me. I believe he still has some growing up to do but I think ultimately he'll be fine. His erratic throwing annoys me most, he can make a running play to his right and throw back the wrong way across his body on the run and have it hit Fielder right in the chest, then he'll airmail the easiest throw he has to make in a game because he's in too much of a hurry to get the ball off.

He'd be hitting better than .241 if he wasn't usually in the 8 spot, but then that's Ken Macha for you

 

I like Escobar's potential alot

I dont know that I can think of 20 rookies I'd rather have over Alcides. But he hasnt really performed all that great and I dont know if he'd really be doing all that well in a different spot in the lineup. but he's shown amazing flashes and could truly be an amazing short stop.

Almost certainly deals with his marital issues. And his defense during his time in Milwaukee has been poor.
