Lucroy doesn't appear ready for MLB, but with Salome and Zaun out, he is the logical choice. I'll look forward to seeing his debut. I wonder how much he'll catch during this time, maybe once every 3-4 games or so?

Since Lucroy's bat is more MLB ready than his defense, maybe we'll see him DH in the Twins series

No matter what happens during Zaun's 15 day DL, this will be good for Lucroy's development in the long run

Once again I am astounded by Brewer management. Last night Schroeder said Kottaras would be doing nearly all the catching because the Brewers "don't think Lucroy is ready"???

Ready for what? Success? All Star status? This is the same team that trots out over the hill players that can't compete and they're worried about one of their top prospects who has 271 games behind the plate not being ready to play a couple games a week? Sure in a perfect world, you'd like to see a couple more months at AAA, but 90% of all players get called up initially ahead of schedule due to injury.

If they truly believe he's not ready, go out and get a veteran somewhere and let Lucroy play everyday at AAA.

I am with all of you here. Why call up your top catching prospect just to let him ride the pine? He needs to play everyday, and I wish they wouldn't have brought him up just to sit. If he isn't ready yet how will he become ready sitting on the bench? Just stupid!?!?!?!? This season couldn't get any more frustrating.

I think perhaps some of us need to calm down a bit (I'm not trying to tell anyone how to feel...just trying to see what the panic is). If Lucroy is only here for the 15 day stint, I don't see this being a big deal at all. I wasn't a fan of the Gamel thing last year, but I think this one is different. If we're sitting here 2 months from now and Lucroy has barely played and he's at the MLB level, I'll be beyond furious. I just don't see that happening.

This probably is a good thing for Lucroy in the long run and even if he doesn't play all that much it gives him a taste of the MLB-level. I know it's easy to ask why he is here and such, but who should the Brewers have called up to catch? I'd like to know that answer (and please consider all the roster issues as well). We only have 4 catchers on the 40-man roster...one is hurt and one is essentially on a leave of absence. I don't see why the Brewers would mess around with their 40-man roster to call up any other catcher in the organization.

I am hopeful that Lucroy gets to play a few games though. If he can play 2 or 3 during this period, I'd be fine with that. I know he may not be 'ready' yet, but I look at this more like a September call-up for him. The way Zaun and Kottaras have been playing I don't know if we need to have Lucroy up playing the rest of the year or anything like that. Hopefully this will let Lucroy get used to the bigs a bit and depending on where we are in September (right now it looks like we'll be out of it...but who knows) maybe Lucroy becomes the full-time catcher or at least see a lot of MLB playing time then.

Well, now what do you do? You want Lucroy to play everyday, but he's not going to do that in Milwaukee. Does Kottaras remain the starting catcher for the remainder of the season with somebody besides Lucroy being the backup?

It must be pretty disappointing for Zaun considering his slow start and where he's now. (batting average wise) Not to mention the possibility of retirement.

It's not an ideal situation for Lucroy either as I wish he had the year in AAA to get ready to take over next year. I just hope he plays more than once every five days.
