i have the G2 (Ping).

Best driver I have used.

I also would recommend any Taylor-Made Product made in the past 2 years

If you want, I can get HUGE discounts at Golf Galaxy...

all 4 of my good friends are managers there...

I really think the new drivers on the Market are too light. I tried them all and settled with the Titleist 907 D2 it is a 400 dollar club but a better option is going to a Golf Galaxy and getting a pre owned Titleist 983K which is the greatest driver of all time and will only run you 50$ and you can spend extra money to get any shaft you want and grips.

My Taylor Made R7 Superquad 10.5 just arrived via UPS today. When I took the demo out at Geneva National a few weeks I was about 35 yards longer and more fareway hits than my old Calaway.

It is pricey but the thing is lethal.

I just got my r7 425 (with Diamana Blue Board shaft) the other day. I have only used it so far on the range, but I love it. I can't wait to unleash it in a couple of days.

If you live close to Mukwonago, Gooden's Sporting Goods has the 425 and 460s for $199. I believe that they have the Fujikura ReAx shafts. If you are looking for higher end shafts that are factory installed, Ebay is a great place to look.

Any time I've tried one of these new light drivers, I can't slow down enough to compensate for the heavier clubs I'm used to and spray the ball all over the place.

That being said, my Dad just won a new 10.5, 460 driver (I don't think it's a big name brand) at an outing and he's given it to me because he doesn't like it. So, I guess I'll be trying to figure it out when I play on Wednesday at Hawk's Landing in Madison.

Geez all of these golfers, we need a BF.net outing.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I recently got a Nike Sasquatch, not the sumo, and I had problems with a slice. It wasn't the weight of the club but instead the shaft which was the issue. I got a stiff shaft on it now and my drives have been as good as I have ever had, which isnt saying all that much.

Then you need a stiffer shaft.

Also, make sure you get fit for the right club.

blatzlight is right...if you feel the club in the backswing, you have the wrong shaft. I'm currently hitting the Ping G5 9-degree with nv-75 (green) shaft, and I love it. It's the best driver I've ever owned, although the next best was the G2. I really liked the TaylorMade TP Superquad, until I found out it was priced at $800.

I recommend Taylor Made or Ping drivers. The Taylor Made 3wood I have goes roughly 275 when I tee it up, so it's a good 20 yards farther than any 3wood I've ever previously owned. But it's also extremely easy to hit. I bought a new set in May, and I went Ping G5 driver (can't stand the rapture), Taylor Made TP 3 wood and 21 degree rescue, Taylor MAde TP 4-PW, Cleveland CG10 black pearl wedges (52, 56, 60-low bounce), and Scotty Cameron NEwport 2.5. I absolutely love every one of the clubs.

Back to drivers, I liked the Cleveland HiBore driver a lot, but it doesn't really "go" like the Ping or Taylor Made. I am not a fan of the Titleist driver, as I much preferred previous models. And I still refuse to buy any Nike golf equipment, in part because I can't stand the golf balls, but also because the clubs were terrible until recently.

If you swing at all hard Stiff is the way to go. Regular is more for seniors or women. The average person swings 85-90 mph, the typical pro 110-120, me i was in the 106 range when i was buying my last club, the salesman said he hadn't seen anyone swing that hard before that wasnt a pro, he sugested i get a super stiff is they made one. Ironically i may swing as hard as the pros i still shot 88-95.

I actually have a Taylor Made R540 I was just going to list on eBay if anyone is interested. Virtually brand new, PM me if anyone is interested. (Mods I was going to put this in trading post, but this thread seemed to be a much better fit)

Unfortunately, I only golf about 3 times a year, so spending money on clubs is not something I do.

If I were ever to get more serious, sure, but for now I'm happy to shoot 90 the few times I actually play and deal with some slices and hooks.

Maybe it's just me but I got a set of Nike Slingshots were hit EXTREMELY nice, the Sasquatch which mashes a ball, a hybrid that works well, and a Nike Oz putter. The only thing I dont like it the putter as I made the mistake of getting a 34 inch club.

Dhonks, what is the difference between the TaylorMade Superquad and the TaylorMade TP Superquad? I see one is $800 and the other is like $400.

About a year ago I went to the Golf Galaxy in Oshkosh and ordered a Ping G5 offset 9 degree driver with a Graffalloy stiff shaft (blue). I bought it for $250 + $10 s/h. I had been using a Cleveland Launcher 460 10.5 degree with a stiff shaft...I liked the Cleveland just fine, but with my swing speed (110 mph) I needed a lower loft and opted for the offset in the Ping to aid myself in hitting a more consistent draw. The Ping is the best club I have ever owned. I added a consistent 10-15 yards on my drive and improved my ability to 'work' the ball.

My buddy has the TaylorMade r7 425 and set his up for draw, he loves his. He bought his in Oshkosh as well. He paid $350 and they threw in a r7 3-wood. Great deals in Oshkosh.

The Taylor made R7 has an option to change the weights in the club head to make it heavier or lighter depending on your preference.

You can order the weights and tool online.

Best driver I've ever hit. I set it up to be draw weighted and bought slightly heavier weights. It's Awesome!
