We'd be remiss if we didn't thank one of our posters, mls4, for his pre-season and in-season updates on the major league side of things.

***

Please feel free to bring to our attention in this thread any incorrect links, errors, or omissions.

***

Players of particular interest (at least to me http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif):

Michael Brantley -- hitting well at AAA for Cleveland, still no power...

Hernan Iribarren -- struggling for Texas at AAA

Darren Ford -- on the Giants' 40-man, but another tough first-half at AA

Omar Aguilar -- Indians' AA -- K's but hits and walks, too

Callix Crabbe -- still around, found him struggling at AA for Toronto

Rob Bryson -- Check out the 29-to-3 K-to-BB ratio in just 17 innings, now in high-A for Cleveland

Rotoworld / Rotowire:

Diamondbacks optioned OF Cole Gillespie to Triple-A Reno.

Gillespie, 25, managed 39 at-bats in 17 games from the time he was called up -- April 24 -- and hit .256 with a .310 on-base percentage. He's likely to be recalled if there's an injury in the Arizona outfield. Gerardo Parra has been recalled from Reno to replace him on the roster. Gillespie went 2-for-13 in his last six games, prompting the D-Backs to make the switch.

***

Also adjusted in the main post is R.A. Dickey's joining up with the big league Mets and Scott Schoeneweiss' DFA by Boston.

We've indicated in the past that we couldn't possibly keep up with all the independent league comings and goings of Brewer alumni each year (literally dozens still active), but we will note when recently released players have found new work, as has catcher J.R. Hopf with Somerset (N.J.) of the Atlantic League.

Hopf is paired behind the plate with former Brewer farmhand Jason Belcher in Somerset. Also on that squad is 32-year-old Elliott Ayala, a long ago Brewer and now veteran indy baller, and former Brewer AAA pitcher Ryan Houston.

Wow I hadn't checked in on him yet this year, his K/9 is 14.9! His BB/9... 1.7... I'm pleased he's doing so well.

How do you earn Pacific Coast League Player of the Week (June 1st - June 6th)?

You go 13-for-19 with five doubles, a triple, and two home runs.

So which alumnus was it? Review the initial post, take a guess and then find out.

NOTE: Don't post your guess or coment here, let others play along...

Josh Romanski's professional pitching debut did not go well.

But his second outing sure did.

Ridiculous. Hey, good for the Yankees. Brewers look silly on this one, let's give away the 2008 4th round pick without ever seeing him pitch in an official game. A lefty, yet.

Such a long way off, but if anything ever comes of his career, that release will be one for the ages.

I always wanted to see Romanski get a shot, especially given his willingness to help the organization as a DH. I'm curious if the organization showed him the same loyalty that he showed them

They've drafted 'em- signed 'em. Tried to rehabilitate them. Then they let a 4th round pick go without seeing the results.

They're nuts. I'm losing faith in this group.

Sign no more soft-tossers!!! I'd rather have bad pitchers that can throw hard enough to miss a few bats.

Ironic that a couple of weeks ago after a certain incident I almost posted about finding where this guy was and signing him.

If he isn't on that teams 40-man, I still think they should do it.

As I noted in the transactions forum, Carlos Corporan was named PCL player of the week for the week ending June 6th. All "Mr. 1.000" has done in June is go 13 for 24, with 5 doubles, 1 triple, 2 HR, and 5 RBI.

Thanks, JB, I actually played a little game with that info a few posts above this one earlier this week...

Fans around this site may remember Howard Kellman, the Indianapolis Indians Broadcaster. MiLB recently did a very nice piece about him calling his 5,000th game for the franchise.
