I fell asleep after work but I'm listening to tonight's recording of the T-Rats pre game show (seeing if their is an interview). The T-Rats will not see Hendriks or Osterbrock (no hit the T-Rats) anymore this season, both young men were promoted since the last series against Beloit.

Wow, Romero just misplayed a ball by 150 feet, falling for a double, Beloit now has runners on 2nd and 3rd with no out.

edit. Ha... Bucci gets out of it. Strike Out, Foul Out, Strike Out.. Nice job Nick!

No doubt I refreshed the Nashville box score finally, I was making a big post on the MLB forum while listening to the T-Rats. If Cappy has his lost velocity back from last season, I wonder what the deal was?

Very excited for him though, he's certainly bucking the odds to this point, I just hope the elbow holds up for him for a couple of years.

edit. Rivas is pitching well but losing, the Stars only have 3 hits.

edit 2. Scarpetta had a better outing with the BBs today, but gave up 7 hits and 4 runs, all 4 runs in the 1st. Bucci pitched well for WI, and Howell is getting Strike Outs lately, I think he's coming around.

Yeah, sounds like Capuano is really pitching a solid game. I hope he keeps it up. I would love to see him come back from those injuries and get that changeup over on the outside corner like he used to do so often.

EDIT: Those of you that have seen him, does Capuano have his FB back up to the low 90s range where he was before?

From what I heard, Capuano was at 82-86 with his fastball in Brevard. That's not as far off his old velocity as you'd think (he was never low-90s). His average fastball velocities his last three years with the Brewers were: 86.4, 86.8, 86.9.

Now that you bring it up, I think that is about where he was before (in the majors), maybe a little faster. I don't think he was in the low 90s. Am I correct?

Yeah, sorry, I edited my post, but you replied before I could. His average fastball was around 86 from 2005-2007.

Braddock strikes out the side in the 9th on 17 pitches, gave up a single to former Brewer Brad Nelson. Good to see him come back strong after that first bad outing of the season.

Lucroy with a 3 run HR tonight as well, great night for Nashville and Brewers fans.

Final: Nashville 8, Tacoma 0

Capuano Dominates Rainiers In 8-0 Win

Nashville Sounds

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Left-hander Chris Capuano twirled eight frames of

scoreless, three-hit ball to lead the Nashville Sounds to an 8-0 victory

over the Tacoma Rainiers on Thursday evening at historic Greer Stadium.

Capuano (1-0) was outstanding in his first start at the Triple-A level

this season after three outings in the Advanced-A Florida State League.

The former Major League All-Star allowed only three hits while walking

two batters and striking out four in his 74-pitch effort.

In four combined starts this season, Capuano has recorded three

victories and posted a minuscule 0.79 ERA (2er/22.2ip). Thursday's

eight-inning outing was Capuano's longest since the 2007 campaign with

Milwaukee. He underwent his second career "Tommy John" ligament

replacement surgery on his left elbow in 2008.

Left-hander Zach Braddock closed out the win with a scoreless ninth for

the Sounds, striking out the side around a two-out Brad Nelson single.

The win was the third shutout victory of the season for Nashville

(21-12), which has won three of its last four contests after dropping

five of the previous seven.

Sounds catcher Jonathan Lucroy staked the home team to a 3-0 lead in the

second when he belted a three-run homer to left-center off Tacoma

starter Chris Seddon. The blast, which plated Joe Koshansky and Trent

Oeltjen, was the backstop's second of the year.

Nashville upped its advantage to 4-0 in the third against Seddon. Ray

Olmedo (2-for-5) reached on a one-out bunt single and moved to second on

a Johnny Raburn single. The runners executed a double steal and Olmedo

trotted to the plate in unearned fashion when Rainiers catcher Josh

Bard's throw sailed into left field.

Oeltjen pushed the Nashville lead to 6-0 in the sixth when he swatted an

opposite-field, two-run homer to left. The roundtripper, which chased

Seddon, was the outfielder's third of the year and first at home. Erick

Almonte opened the frame with a walk and also scored on the blast.

The Sounds wrapped up the evening's scoring in the seventh with a pair

of runs off Tacoma reliever Yusmeiro Petit. Koshansky and Almonte each

contributed an RBI single in the frame.

Seddon (3-1) took his first loss of the year for Tacoma after

surrendering six runs (four earned) on six hits over five-plus frames of

work.

The teams wrap up their four-game series with a 7:05 p.m. finale on

Friday night at Greer. Right-hander Marco Estrada (1-2, 3.55) will make

the start for the Sounds to face Tacoma right-hander David Pauley (0-3,

3.41).

Nashville box score

Really encouraging outing from Capuano (and I dig the hat), but I wonder, with Chris Narveson solidifying his rotation spot, I wonder how Capuano would fit in. How bad would Doug Davis have to pitch, and for how long, before Melvin would admit his mistake there? Think of how long it took him to do so with Jeff Suppan, though granted Suppan was a more significant investment/statement. Also great to see Braddock bounce back with a dominant outing. The homer was Lucroy's only hit. Adam Heether was 1-3 and was hit by a pitch.

Nashville play-by-play

I have a feeling Braddock was a little angry tonight:

Tacoma Top 9th

  • Pitcher Change: Zach Braddock replaces
    Chris Capuano.
  • Mike Carp strikes out swinging.
  • Tommy
    Everidge strikes out swinging.
  • Brad Nelson singles on a line
drive to left fielder Trent Oeltjen.
  • Mike Wilson strikes out
    swinging.
