HoFer Robin Roberts passes away at 83

Robin Roberts passes.

Sadly, these things often happen in threes. . .There are some very old HOFers still around. I hope that lasts. . .

I was just reading how Roberts pitched over 300 innings for 6 straight innings, and completed about 75% of those games. Safe to say those days when pitchers would go like that are long gone.

My Grandpa, while a huge Braves fan, loved Robin Roberts. One time when Robin was in town, my grandfather, who was a dentist, worked on his teeth. At the Chicago All Star Fan Fest, I met Robin, and asked him if he remembered my Grandpa, and he replied "Sure do, tell him I said hello" It kinda blew my mind. Needless to say my grandpa was beside himself that he remembered (even if Robin was just being polite).

 

Seemed like a very likeable guy. RIP.
