Oh no man not at all...I didn't post that as any sort of comeback to you...I just thought it was kinda news. Also Steve Berthiume from ESPN is texting very confidently about it...saying in 2 tweets that "Melvin picking up Greinke and Marcum are great bold moves."

Even with Odorizzi included in this trade, this is a trade you make and

don't look back. With the two first rounders in this summers draft and

the likely picks for Prince next year the cupboard will not be bare for

long. We really gave up no proven commodities for a bona fide ace. The

reward, in this case, greatly outweighs the risk.

I could not possibly agree more with this post. I think this is a great move, if true.

This seems to reminiscent of the Badger Blogger episode for me to get to excited about it right now.

I'm not shocked that there hasn't been confirmation of this rumor in the middle of the night. That's not to say I know anything convincing... I'm just not surprised that there's been no definitive answer when most people are sleeping. I'm off to bed (finally) now, and I'll be eager to see what's happening with this topic when I wake up.

Don't discount the Ned Yost factor here -- he was here recently enough to be in on all the farm reports and detailed behind-the-scene Brewer analysis as Escobar and Cain came up through the system, and would have had input on the Royals' roundtable.

Major-league ready and inexpensive up-the-middle talent is what the Royals were seeking.

We also need to remember that young Jake was at A-ball this past year, not even high-A. This isn't Madison Bumgarner here (six months older than 20-year-old Odorizzi), so much can still happen as Odorizzi progresses.

Thrilled we're not seeing Rogers' name, and that's not just the New Englander in me talkin'.

Jim Breen is a Madison native who has been blogging about the Brewers for over two years. He graduated in June of 2009 with a B.A. in Religious Studies and Government from Lawrence University.

What a victory for the blogosphere if this comes about -- God bless Jim and the USA, the studies paid off!

Pretty amazing. I got home from a Christmas party last night and got overwhelmed by all these rumors. Now I see this morning that things are still being heavily rumored. Where there's smoke, there's fire, I would say.

Congrats to Bernie's Crew for breaking this. FWIW, I see uber-reliable Twitter person "incarceratedbob" also has the rumor up.

My concerns with the rumor: The trade must not be official yet and there must be some haggling over some term or two that has prevented either organization from announcing it. That means that hang up could potentially kill the deal and the longer we go without official confirmation, the better the chance the rumor never happens. It cant be as simple as a contract extension or no trade clause type of stuff or even physicals because deals are announced all of the time with those matters pending.

I don't think Cain was destined to be an All-star, but a good defense, cheap high OBP CF is pretty valuable. I like signing Renteria to fill the SS hole, but it seems like the best we might get in CF is a combo of Gomez and Dickerson then. That said never doubt the 'stache.

LINK -- Buster Olney of ESPN confirms

Former Cy Young Award winner Zack Greinke has been traded to the Milwaukee Brewers, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney on Sunday morning.

In the deal, the Brewers are reportedly acquiring Royals outfielder Lorenzo Cain, shortstop Alcides Escobar and prospect pitchers Jake Odorizzi and Jeremy Jeffress for Greinke, 10-14 with a 4.17 ERA in 2010 after winning the 2009 Cy Young.

The Brewers were expected to receive another major leaguer in the deal. Jim Breem of the blog "Bernie's Crew" reported that player to be shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt.
