I just got back watching the Brewers finish off a 4-0 weekend for the state of Wisconsin and then I read this. Best. Weekend. Ever.
This better not be a joke. I am serious. I will find someone and punch them.

Was out and about here in Green Bay today, and saw just as many people in Brewers attire as I saw wearing Packers gear.
Were people in the stands listening to the Brewer game on radio? Did anyone seem more interested in the baseball game than the football game in front of them? Did the crowd ever rise up and cheer for no apparent football reason but an obvious baseball (Braun HR? RBI singles?) reason?

Nope, I posted this on Friday so I wasn't at the game. Just shopping at Kohls.

If the Brewer win wasn't enough, I'm given a double dose of delight, as Spanish bullfighter Juan Jose Padilla took one to the face by Marques the bull.

I only hope Marques got in a few f-bombs on Spanish tv before he was undoubtedly slaughtered.

It's always bothered me to hear baseball broadcasters use more than one

pronunciation of Aramis Ramirez's first name. While shopping today, the

sales person who helped me was named Aramis, so I asked how his name was

pronounced. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

In English: AIR-ah-mus

In Spanish: a-rah-MEESE

I'm pleased not to be bugged by this anymore — unless I hear a broadcaster say a-RAHM-us.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

There was a knock on our front door Sunday evening. That usually means someone trying to sell us something, so we almost didn't answer. But it turned out to be a neighbor from our block telling us how much he has appreciated our "Because it snows in October" yard sign - which I ordered from the bf.net store in 2008 and have brought out every spring-to-fall since. I'd just taken it in for the off-season on Friday, and he was concerned that someone had stolen the sign.

It's the only time in four seasons that a neighbor has remarked on the sign, and only the second comment we've had overall (the first being from a Brewers' employee who visited once). It made me feel pretty good, though...like we'd made some small difference.

Wow--it's been nearly two months since someone has posted on here feeling "unbugged". It's been a rough couple of months, I guess. . .Playoff loss, Cards win, No Prince, Expensive 8th inning guy, Braunie speculation. . .

What's NOT bugging me is that for the first time since 2002, I'm back to being a partial season ticket holder. We have been living away from the area for all that time, but we are back, and I just picked up a 10-game Hot Summer Nights package in the family section. Plus they throw in a free game, too.

They're not advertising the 10-gamers now, but they'll sell them if you call. . .

Now I just need to convince my 7-yo daughter that baseball is fun. . .

If she's anything like my little cousins, one time grilling out and goofing around in the parking lot and a night filled with baseball questions will have her hooked.

Family section FTW! And since the H5s are an actual "family," if you have any Friday or Saturday games you stand a chance of being the Kohl's Family Section Family of the Game and scoring a $250 Kohl's card. (The childless hawing household is left out of this promotion - though we have appeared twice on the videoboard while the designated family of the game was being shown. All this despite our arguably being family section all-stars, dating back to the County Stadium family section days. But I digress.)

For what it's worth, you may tell your daughter that she has a chance to get a head start on me, as I didn't begin following baseball until I was 16. I'm sure that will be highly meaningful to her. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Good to know. . .There are some weekend games in the package, so hopefully we'll be able to score the Kohl's card. . .or at least make it onto the big screen.

My wife and daughter will appear in beautiful HD color, while I remain in grainy B&W, with a heavy wool suit and permanent scowl.. . .

Section 217, Row 4, three seats "on the aisle", though I didn't ask which aisle it was. . .

The package doesn't start until early June. I wonder if they're going to rename it "Games 51 and beyond". . .

Great! Then it'll be easy for us to pick you out.

So, to continue what doesn't bug us...any of you Giants/Molitor Lot parkers remember Lee Roy, one of the long-timers who's been taking $ and passes at the entrance? He just sent us a Christmas card. Aww!

I'll tell you, there's no better way to discover how many people you know are at a sporting event than to be shown on the videoboard/jumbotron, and then just sit back and wait for the day-after comments.

my apartment is usually kinda messy, but now that i've taken up art as a hobby, instead of being messy with clothes and whatnot, it's messy with paper and paint and craft supplies. now, instead of feeling like a slob, i feel like someone who is too focused on creating art to be tidy. i feel like, if someone were to visit my apartment right now (watch for flying pigs), that their reaction would be more like "he's a scattered artist" instead of "you should really clean up."

also, it feels nice to have convinced myself of this lie.

edit: i just realized i've worked harder to convince myself of a lie rather than just clean up. i'm much better now. on the day that pig flies, i have to be prepared.

Doesn't becoming an artist allow you go from "messy" to "breaking out of social norms" and become "misunderstood" or "tortured", thus making your art just that much more valuable?

Its all just marketing... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I changed my car insurance deductible from $1000 down to $0 and my insurance went down $35 a month.

Yay for formula's determining everything. I even went and played around with the policy quote thing today and if I switch from my $0 Deductible plan to a $2000 deductible plan my insurance would go up $17 a month.

That's crazy. Who did you go through?

This ended up not being too bad. I actually lost $172.82 because most of the stocks went down between Monday and Tuesday. However, despite the Dow Jones losing 0.4% this week, this account was up $269.05 or 1.64% on the week. So I'm net up $96.23 taking into account my mistake.

This week is free preview week of NHL's Center Ice with Dish. I got to watch my first full Red Wings game of the year tonight, and it's the game that set an NHL record with their 21st consecutive home win. What great timing to offer it this week, and fortunate luck that I found out about the preview on Sunday. I usually don't find out about the previews until they are almost or already over.

looks like my apartment complex will let someone else take over my lease, so i get to move out of Texas in early April, a month sooner than expected! it's definitely a seller's market here (lot of rich oil people living out of motels and trailers here), and a friend suggested charging maybe $500 just for giving up my apartment. not sure about that.

i'm really excited to get out of here because i hate my job and am very lonely here, and i have a couple good friends in NC. at the same time, i'm a little bit scared to be quitting a job in a recession (so no unemployment benefits) and just crossing my fingers that i'll be able to find something. heck, even Wal-Mart-type jobs are hard to find these days.
