What's NOT bugging you? (2007 – 2013)

15 days after basically being shoved out the door in my old job, I got a great offer for a new gig today that is so much better in so many ways. Excellent relocation package (to where we wanted to move anyway), very comparable salary, and a huge swing from crazy retail hours to just one night a week and one full weekend a month!!!

On top of that, we leave tomorrow morning for 5 days on the beach in Florida to go to a wedding. It was such great timing to get the offer today before leaving, it makes the trip a lot more relaxing.

Plus now I don't have to worry about fighting an unemployment case, I can just enjoy a few weeks off and move on.

Everything I've ever known, I've learned from Brewerfan.net....Seriously though

One of Spain's top bullfighters, Jose Tomas, has been badly gored during a fight in Mexico, his manager says.http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8642637.stm

This didn't quite end the way I hoped, but still, it was a pretty great attempt by the bull. A four inch goring to Jose Tomas's groin, and he loses 17 pints of blood. . .that is clutch. You can't really ask for a better effort.

If there is such a thing as a moral victory, the bulls should be quite proud.

Another near victory by the bulls, as Julio Aparicio took one to the throat. There are some horrifying pics online for those who wish to search. Freddy Krueger couldn't have dreamed of a more gruesome image. This link is safe, however.

Kind of tough to shout "Ole!" when you've got a bull's horn coming up through your neck.

Despite his mini-victory, the bull was undoubtedly put to death, much to the delight of the bloodthirsty fans.

Our 2 1/2 years in Singapore come to an end tomorrow morning. That's totally not bugging me. Newark will never have looked so good.

It's a great and wonderful place, but it's 10,000 miles away from family.

The 18-hour flight might bug me, but the result is worth it.

I will be transferring to our new store in Menomonee Falls later this year. It will be quite a change leaving my comfort zone of 22 years.
Yes! The new Woodman's coming up is definitely not bugging me. Anything that offers an alternative to Pick N' Save in my (relative) neck of the woods is awesome. No longer will I have to drive 20 miles down to Oak Creek after 5pm.

Jose Lopez hit it off of Wolf. We were in the 1st row of the Club Level on the 1st base side. I joked with my wife before we left for the game about what would happen if a foul ball came our way...and if it came to me, I would have to make sure I didn't drop it to the level below. It actually went straight for my wife. She ducked out of the way, I stepped in front of her, and it hit me in the wrist and fell right next to her. That think came in FAST. I still can't believe that happened. It was so cool.

Before Tuesday's game, as we wandered over toward the Selig statue, we saw our ticket rep on duty at the season ticket window #5. We waved at him and he waved us over to present $20 in food/merchandise vouchers. Props to Nate!

(and for those cynics assuming he's just trying to buy us for 2011, I considered that possibility myself; but I think Nate realizes that if any of his clients are diehard enough to not need wooing with vouchers, it is probably the hawing household.)

I have been having internet trouble for several weeks. My home network has been getting slower and slower, culminating in a whopping .40 Mbps on Friday. My SO's computer got a wiped (it was running Vista with no SPs). My laptop was still running slow. I thought I had caught something from her computer. I borrowed a netbook from work for the weekend. Even on the netbook, I was getting no speed. I plugged the netbook directly into the cable modem and instantly saw a problem. The modem was turning off and on it's connection every half second. My router was covering up this fact, displaying the network as steady on and sending packets when it could.

A trip out to Southridge and a new modem at home, and suddenly I had 5 Mbps. It felt so weird to be without internet at home, but able to still access basics (like BF.net, weather, etc) on my Blackberry.

got my first job application callback today, so that lifts my hopes a little. this was the one and only time i'd said i lived in Austin on my application, so i told them i was now in Wisconsin visiting family (which i kinda am), so we're doing it by phone. not gonna rush down there for a half-hour interview against maybe 30 candidates, but i guess if i become one of the final couple of people, then i'll head down there (i have a place there to live) to interview in person.

i'd planned on heading to Austin soon, anyway, because i don't want to live in Wisconsin anymore and Texas has the most job openings across the country. i have a place to live down there, but it's just a little sooner than i'd planned on going since $1500 isn't much to have in the bank even if i do have free housing. i'll need 40-60 hours of work to get by once i'm down there, but i suppose with school starting and temp jobs starting to hire for the Christmas season, maybe it's a good time to take the risk and head down there.

Once you spend time in Texas, you won't want to leave! Seriously, though, good luck in your interview and your job hunting. The cost of living down here really isn't all that expensive, especially if you've got housing taken care of.

thanks, Craig. the job is rec programming, which i don't particularly want to do, but i can't be too picky. lucky enough to be getting called in the first place.

my current job has me down to 30 hours a week, so i'm thinking instead of look for a second job in Madison, i may as well head to Austin in a week or so and start looking for 40-60 hours of work--this is maybe a good time with the college kids going back to school and temp jobs hiring for Christmas.

it's too bad Asheville is a terrible place to find work, but you and so many people on here have said how great Austin and Texas in general is, so that's been great to hear.
