Too Early to Be Demoralized?

Well, I feel better today. Do I think this team can be a legit playoff contender this year? I do not. But at least they're finally making moves based on talent rather than money and "respecting veterans."

Yeah, I agree completely. It feels good today, and honestly that has nothing to do with the win last night. I also liked how LouisEly put it in "Anyone else seeing big changes ahead?" discussion:

Wasn't this kind of what many people were advocating - send down the higher ceiling guys with options and keep the guys with no options, and if the guys with no options fail or get hurt they have a backup plan.

Well, it's time for the backup plan.

It's definitely nice to have the higher upside guys to turn to. I'll watch with interest to see how Ken Macha handles having all this youth on his team. I kinda suspect he's wriggling a bit on the inside, having to trust these whippersnappers to get the job done. It's going to be great to watch a team comprised of Axford, Narveson, Parra, Estrada, Lucroy, Braddock, Yo, Braun, Fielder, Weeks, Escobar, McGehee, Gomez, etc. I'm not as down on Davis as some/many, but there's certainly no need to rush him back. Given his situation, I'd say that's a very nice luxury to have.

Well, maybe he used to feel that way, but after Macha had to sit and watch the bevy of veteran pitchers get terrible results, i think he'll gladly now turn to anyone he can feel any trust to get outs like i think he already feels towards Axford. If then Braddock gets called up and is very productive, i could easily see Macha counting heavily on both Axford and Braddock.

Macha may have an infinity towards veterans, but he has to be sweating his job security and when there are close games going forward, i just don't see Macha turning to vets like Vargas/Suppan in high leverage situations if other young options like Axford/Braddock are clearly getting better results. In fact, my guess is that he's thrilled to have an option like Axford to turn to now and would be just as thrilled when Braddock gets called up.

I admit I had become completely apathetic towards the team over the last few weeks but for some reason todays loss really has me feeling demoralized. That along with Attanasio saying Macha wasnt being fired monday and saying that the fans will have to "deal" with our GM makes me really question the future of the franchise.

I'm not "demoralized", but lets just say my expectations for this team are very very low. Lower than since maybe 2006 or early 2007.

I definitely don't think the Milwaukee Brewers as a "product" are worth spending money on for tickets right now. We have good seats for the Mariners next month. I don't think I'll buy any more tickets until Macha is fired or until the quality of play goes way up, at least

I'll continue to watch the games on TV and root for the team, I'm a die-hard fan
