2010 NHL Playoffs

burniebrewer

What an effort by the Flyers and now they have the home ice. Bet they never saw that coming.

To fall behind 3-0 on the road (in the first 15 minutes) in game 7 could have been real demoralizing. Rallying for the win is impressive.

And today is why the NHL playoffs are so great.

It's differences of opinion that make horse races. The NHL playoffs stink. 7 vs 8 in the East neither deserving to be even in the playoffs. I guess the hold/hook/interfere bore fest is exiting to some because it's on a large stage. Personally, I prefer the regular season when actual hockey is played. You're welcome to the Stanley Cup. I'll pass.

How are neither deserving? Especially Montreal. They beat the President's Trophy winner and defending Stanley Cup champs to make it to the ECF. I love games where fewer penalties are called. Nothing worse than a whistle fest where they call every little ticky-tack thing.

The Habs are the best team in the east right now. They deserve to be where they are.

Of course, they were not the best team in the regular season, but I would rather not have mediocre 1-4 seeds that were at their peak in November playing for the Stanley Cup. It's all about which team came together throughout the regular season and is the best now. A 7-game series is enough to determine the superior team.

That Hawks Sharks game was great. Niemi has suddenly become the second coming of Patrick Roy back there. He made some amazing saves with the glove. This should be a really entertaining series.

With every passing game, he alleviates my fears. Great win for the Blackhawks today.

Can't help but wonder if the penalties (Chicago 5, SJ 0) will tilt towards Chicago in Game 2.

Niemi pissed me off. I not only hate any Chicago sports franchise, i put money on Philadelphia and San Jose.

As for the playoffs, i don't like Cosby and was thrilled to seen him and Pittsburgh get bounced. I watch hockey because i like it. If the casual hockey fans stop tuning in because Crosby and/or Ovechkin aren't playing anymore, i don't care one bit.

Blackhawks continue to win on the road and Montreal can't find the net for the second straight game.

Now we'll see if Chicago can show up on home ice.

I think the Sharks will come out swinging on Friday.

Had to rescue this thread before it moved to page 2.

Great win by the Habs today. They are a certainly a different team at home. Great offensive pressure and net crashing to score early and often. I wish I could watch the Sharks game tomorrow, but I am going to Minny to check out the new Target Field.

I didn't realize that Duncan Keith lost 7 teeth in the last
game against the Sharks. Video

. I also
agree with Barry Melrose that it would be worse to lose 7 teeth than to
break a nose like Steve Nash did.

Well I was 0-2 in calling the
Stanley Cup teams. I guess I am going to turn into a Hawks fan because
Philly fans weren't very friendly to me when I was at Citizens Bank
Park. Go Hawks!

Zurch, on Mike and Mike this morning, Kane was making fun of how Keith was talking after losing those teeth in the game, very funny stuff. Said his power-play leadership calls were "too mumbled to understand" and Kane laughed at his "lisp during the post-game interview."

That is funny stuff for sure. Hockey players are tough as nails, as Keith didnt miss a shift, playing almost 30 mins.

I am a pens fan first, but I love the hawks as my #2 team. Go Hawks!

What a wild start to the finals. I think Game 2 will have a completely different feel to it...and Chicago might even get a power play.

What a great Game 2. Lots of great hitting, great saves by both goalies...fun to watch. I think what made it so fun to watch was listening to the crowd. There were times where you couldn't hear the announcers. I would love the Hawks to win the Cup at home...that would be insane.

The city is going nuts for the Hawks right now and it's a lot of fun. Only Chicago team I care about and it makes the bars a lot more jovial that's for sure.

That last minute was amazing last night. Philly had about 9 solid chances (not all were shots on goal, but still) and the mad scramble... an empty netter off the post... just amazing.

What a game right now. I've relegated the Brewers to Gameday to watch some seriously good hockey. Chicago gets to rifle goals, a breakaway from Kane to put up a goal, and then Philly comes right back with an equalizer. Awesome. And that's not even mentions the flurries of Philly pressure. Just a great game in a great series so far. Plus, it's big markets that are two big time hockey towns. I hope the ratings live up to how great this is. It'd be good for hockey.

I think I heard that one of the games was the highest rated Cup game in like 30 years.

Tough loss for the Blackhawks tonight, but you'd expect the Flyers to show up being down 2-0. The 'Hawks had them when Kane scored on the breakaway to go up 3-2, but Philly answered within the minute to tie it up. After that, I could just feel Philly winning this one.

Get 'em in Game 4 and go for the Cup on home ice Sunday.
