2010 NHL Playoffs

While we may not have too much board interest, I hate to jack the Badger hockey thread, so here it is....the 2010 NHL Playoffs thread.

GO SMASHVILLE!

Would really like to see Phoenix knock the Red Wings out of the playoffs. I want the Canucks to win against the Kings, the Flyers to beat the Devils and Senators to beat the Penguins. Don't really care who wins the other 1st round matchups.

Congrats to the Preds on taking game one!! The GF was in attendance at the United Center tonight and proudly wore her Preds gear in the sea of Blackhawk goons. The city of Chicago goes to bed disappointed tonight! Saaaave, Pekka Rinne!

It is really tough for me to decide which team to root for.
That's the problem with not having an nhl team in Wisconsin. Although I am rooting for the preds, sens, and coyotes, I guess I
have to go with the Sharks to win it all. They have Pavelski and Heatley on their
team. Amazing win for them today too. Pavelski scored the tying goal
with 30 seconds left in regulation. I was going nuts.

Two years ago, I never really got into hockey. My Minnesotan roommate
quickly changed that and converted me. Now I rarely miss a game. Playing the NHL games for xbox only amplified my addiction. Has anyone here played NHL10? That is my absolute favorite game. I loved
having my two tvs on during the Brewer game today. One had the Brewers
and the other had Versus on. It had a best buy feel to it. I've seen at least part of every game that has been on TV so
far, so I will try to keep this thread alive.

Big win for Nashville.

I'm concerned about the goaltending situation for Chicago as Niemi/Huet don't seem like they can carry a team on their own.

As for the other games in the West...no defense being played last night. You just never see high scoring playoff games like those.

I guess I can take back my statement about no defense being played in the West with 2 (basically 3--Nabokov should get some credit for one) shutouts yesterday.

Regarding Nabokov and the Sharks, how horrible was that loss last night? Out-shoot the Avalanche 51-17 for the game and 42-7 in periods 2 & 3 and lose because your own defenseman puts one in his own net in OT. Unreal. At the same time, credit to Avalanche goalie Craig Anderson for stopping everything thrown his way.

Nice to see Niemi rebound for the 'Hawks, but now it's off to Nashville. We'll see how the road treats them.

That sharks game was a definite heartbreaker. They were the better team yesterday. I really thought they were going to score right before the PP with 7 minutes left in the third. They really put some awesome pressure on the avs defense.

I was wondering where that "no defense" comment came from. I've never really noticed a difference in defense between the East and West all season. Now with the SC on the line, teams are going to fight that much harder than what they did in the regular season.

Does anyone else think Ovechkin celebrates just a little too much whenever his team does anything right? I understand a big goal, but a good pass? A nice hit? A faceoff win?

Does he jump up and down when he ties his shoes in the morning? Act like a scoring champ for the great one's sake........

Brian Engblom pointed out that Boyle's back pass was tipped by the Avalanche player causing it to go on net. I hadn't noticed that, and will have to look at the replay again to see if that was the case.

Kings are sticking it to Vancouver near the end of the second period 4-1 (edit, now 4-2)...Luongo has been pulled.

If Vancouver can't figure out how to stop the LA power play (3 PP goals tonight, 7 for the series), they're done.

I agree trwi. From the angle that that shot (pass) was made, the 6 foot wide goal was probably only a foot wide. There is no reason why Nabokov should have left that small window open. Well they get a crack at tying the series tonight right after the Bucks/Brewers game. I have a pretty good idea what I will be doing then...

Yeah, that was a great win for Nashville. They can bury the 'Hawks if they win game 4. I am just not confident in Niemi to win in the playoffs.

Sharks/Avalanche was another great game.

The playoffs have been great so far.
