McGehee is an awful defender.

He made a fantastic play in the 1st inning.

I don't know about fantastic. He made a nice stop and got the runner, but the throw was very weak. He's just not agile enough to get off the ground and make a strong throw. It all worked out, but Escobar made a similar play on the line drive and still managed to get off a strong throw. Casey is what he is, solid yet unspectacular. He did make the play and that's all that really matters in the end.

And overall as a defender he's awful.

McGehee botch the DP or something?

An easy one. Had it in his glove, dropped it and had to go to 1st.

To 2nd.....

Apples to oranges?

Come on dude, he got his feet under him and put something on the throw. Casey just isn't agile enough to be able to do the same thing. It doesn't matter if he was going to 2nd or 1st, I'm talking about the ability to pop off the ground in proper body position to make a good throw.

Escobar had all the time in the world to set himself and make the throw, as the runner was 2/3rds of the way to third. Casey had to hurry to get the runner, which is the inherent problem of the position. That's not even CLOSE to apples to apples. Come on yourself.
