Unfortunately, the Rattlers TV broadcast on Sports32 scheduled for Opening Night won't happen Friday night. Their next scheduled TV broadcast is Tuesday, April 13th. The station may add a game to their planned broadcast schedule later on in the season.

***

For Nashville diehards, you can buy a monthlong $6.95 subscription to MiLB.TV ($29.95 for the season), as there are a few PCL destinations that webstream all their home games. Iowa is among those teams so the Nashville opening series can be viewed online with a subscription.

Catching up from Thursday:

Nashville broadcaster Stu Paul provides additional detail on the opener and how he overcame multiple technical snafus as he provides some behind-the-scenes insights in his blog post.

Suppan hitting 89 on the gun at Time Warner Field? Is this really 2003? At any rate a good start so far for the T-Rats. Suppan actually struck out 2 batters in the top of the first, then Richardson led off with an IF single, advanced to 2nd on the bad throw, then to third on a WP.

edit. After Gennet and Davis K, Garfield gets jammed but muscles it over 2B for a single to drive in the first run of the season. Then Garfield steals 2nd, the throw goes into CF, and now he's standing on 3rd. Shoddy defense early.

Now the T-Rats join the defensive party, Richardson loses a high fly ball in almost straight away center and it falls for a triple.

edit. The defensive woes continue for Kane County, Paciorek 2 doubles on a bleeder down the line and then on the next pitch advances to 3rd on a WP. Every T-Rat base runner has touched 3rd thus far.

I'm kind of surprised that Huntsville has Wheeler as there everyday SS
I think Huntsville is, too; the Huntsville Times reporter a few weeks ago that Sergio Miranda was going to be the Stars' shortstop.

Suppan is getting hit around to start the 4th. 1 run is already in, there are no outs, and now runners on 1st and 2nd.

edit. Suppan loads the bases, gets a K, then a 1-2-3 double play to get out of the inning. 1-1 to the bottom of the 4th.

Angel Salome gets on the board with a solo homer. Chuck Lofgren is pitching well: three perfect innings with two strikeouts.

For BC, Kentrail Davis is 2-3 again, as is Erik Komatsu, who has a double and a triple. Wily Peralta has struck out four and walked none through four innings.

MiLB really needs to resolve the scoreboard issues with these box scores, I'm too lazy to go through and add up all the runs to figure out what the scores are.

Just look at the pitchers' lines

Turns out Peralta was just getting lathered up: 8/0 K/BB through six innings now, only four hits allowed (all singles), and a 6/2 GO/AO.

Wow, T-Rats win on an IF single by Gennett in the bottom of the 7th, Chris thought it was an E4 but either way the T-Rats win the opener.

I'm really looking forward to following Komatsu for a full season. It's actually a nice top of the order in AA, A+, and A...so this will be a fun year following pitchers AND hitters. It's also awesome that we've had great pitching performances each night thus far. It used to be only like once a week!

Final: Wisconsin 3, Kane County 2 (7 innings)

Wisconsin box score

A "rehabbing" Jeff Suppan allowed a Suppanian 10 baserunners (seven hits, three walks) in 4.1 innings, though he only allowed one run and did strike out four. The Timber Rattlers got some power bullpen work, as Andre Lamontagne and Jon Pokorny combined to record seven of the last eight outs of the game via strikeout, with Pokorny's perfect 7th earning him the win. Joey Paciorek posted the only multiple-hit game among T-Rats, going 2-3 with a double. Scooter Gennett, making his pro debut, struck out in his first two at-bats but drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 7th with an infield single. D'Vontrey Richardson, also making his pro debut, was 1-4 with a single. The Chris Dennis infielder/outfielder controversy was moot, as Dennis DH'd. Worth noting: the losing pitcher, Ian Krol, was a touted prep arm out of Illinois last year who ended up pitching in a semi-pro league in Wisconsin after he was kicked off his high school team.

Wisconsin play-by-play

The walk-off 7th:

  • Joseph Paciorek singles on a ground ball to right fielder Rashun
    Dixon.
  • Carlos George out on a sacrifice bunt, pitcher Ian
Krol to first baseman Anthony Aliotti. Joseph Paciorek to 2nd.
  • Ian
    Krol intentionally walks Franklin Romero.
  • D' Vontrey
Richardson grounds out to catcher Max Stassi. Joseph Paciorek to 3rd.
    Franklin Romero to 2nd.
  • Ryan Gennett singles on a ground
ball to second baseman Conner Crumbliss. Joseph Paciorek scores.
    Franklin Romero to 3rd.

Final: Chattanooga 3, Huntsville 2

Huntsville box score

Alex Periard was decent in his six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits, but his K/BB was an uninspiring 1/2 (plus a HBP). He did apparently have his sinker working, getting 10 ground-ball outs against only four in the air. Caleb Gindl was the only Star with multiple hits, going 2-4 with an RBI double. Jonathan Lucroy was only 1-4 but contributed defensively by picking a runner off second. Lorenzo Cain and Brett Lawrie did not have a good day at the top of the order, the former 1-5 with three strikeouts and the latter 0-4 plus a throwing error.

Final: Brevard County 7, Daytona 0

Brevard County box score

Wily Peralta with easily the line of the night so far, eight strikeouts against no walks in six innings, allowing just four hits and posting a 6/2 GO/AO. Evan Frederickson was his typical self in relief, striking out two but also walking one and hitting a batter. Can't complain too much, though, since a strong Daytona lineup still hasn't scored on the Manatees staff after two games. On offense, Erik Komatsu had a nice night, going 2-4 with a double, triple, and walk. Kentrail Davis also had his second multiple-hit performance in as many career games, going 2-5. Erik Miller pitched in with a double and walk, and Anderson de la Rosa was 2-5 and drove in three runs.

Brevard County play-by-play

Peralta just got stronger as the game went on. His last two innings:

Daytona Bottom 5th

  • Nelson Perez strikes out swinging.
  • Mark Reed strikes out swinging.
  • Junior Lake strikes
    out swinging.

Daytona Bottom 6th

  • Brett
Jackson flies out to center fielder Kentrail Davis.
  • DJ
LeMahieu grounds out, second baseman Juan Sanchez to first baseman Brock
    Kjeldgaard.
  • Kyler Burke strikes out swinging.
