Hart to nationals?

Judgin from recent comments from Jack Zdurencik, it sounds very much like the Mariners are in "win now" mode, and are not planning a sell off. I think there is a lot of pressure on the team to make the playoffs very soon, and I get sense that there won't be a massive sell off like some have anticipated. We have to remember that Seattle isn't a small market team.

Full Count: Rocky Mountain low

Rosenthal's latest.

I wonder if this trade would work for the Mariners and Dodgers.? Brewers get Geison Aguasviva and Chris Withrow; Dodgers get Cliff Lee; Mariners get Hart, Salome, and Rogers.? The Dodgers get the pitching that they want and the Brewers get two young pitchers that they need and the Mariners get two positional players and a #4 or #5 type pitcher.? All three of the players that the Mariners are getting will be able to contribute to the team in 2011.? Salome could become the Mariners DH/OF/C of the future the Mariners currently don't have anyone who can put up some power numbers in those spots.?

I don't see the Mariners bypassing the Brewers and getting those players because I just do not see the Dodgers giving up the positional players that they do have that the Mariners would be looking to add by trading Lee.? The Brewers do have the positional players that the Mariners are looking for.? If the Mariners would be looking at Gamel then the Brewers would have to ask for Michael Pineda in return.? The return for Lee would just be way to low for the Brewers to trade Gamel for him.? I believe the Brewers could get a whole lot more in return if they traded Gamel than if they traded Lee.?

I wonder if the Mariners would take a trade of Fielder, Hart, and Salome for Lee and Pineda and then the Brewers could flip Lee for one or two pitching prospects.?

Casey McGehee would fit the Mariners too.

Take out Rogers for sure. He could very well turn into the best pitcher in that group.

I agree. Why give up Hart and Rogers to get Withrow when Rogers is clearly outpitching Withrow this year in the same league? If we need to add a sweetener to Hart, add in Dave Bush, as Seattle doesn't want prospects.

Absolutely. I have absolutely no interest in trading virtually any of our young pitchers, simply because their potential future value to us vastly out paces their current trade value.

As of right now, I highly doubt many teams would be willing to give up much for a Mark Rogers, Wily Peralta, Cody Scarpetta, ect..ect...type prospect. As a result, given their future potential, and my belief that out of 20 good, high ceiling arms we can count on hopefully 2-3 actually panning out, I would be loathe to give any of them up.

What about trading Fielder and Hart for Lee and Pineda along with trading Lee to the Rangers for Perez/Font and Evan Reed. That would give the Brewers three starting pitchers in the minors who all have good to great stuff. That maybe a low return for Fielder and Hart but really the Brewers are getting an ace pitcher in Perez a possible ace or #1 in Pineda and a #3 or #4 type pitcher in Reed. There maybe one or two more players in the deal but those players are going to be guys with big question marks. This would definitely help out the Mariners in the long run since they will be receiving one premium bat in Fielder and an average bat in Hart for Lee and Pineda along with any prospects the Brewers could pick up for Lee.
