Just an idea here - JJ Hardy

aracko

I look at the roster and I figure that JJ Hardy is as likely as anyone to be moved this offseason. While I know you generally dont move a player when he is down, just maybe you can get fair value when you move him to a team like the Devilrays.

The Devilrays are DESPERATE for a SS and Closer. Your not going to find one on the market as talented or with the high upside of JJ Hardy. Hardy would actully be a leader in that clubhouse I think.

What would the Rays be willing to give us in return? I dont know but they seem to have a Glut of players in Center. Hardy, Helling and Turnbow for Crawford or Baldelli?

Small to mid market teams are always willing to take chances on guys like Turnbow. Heck - thats why the brewers have him. I just bought a Turnbow Bobblehead last night so I am not a TBOW hater. I actully want to see him get another chance to close.

Acquiring either Baldelli or Crawford would allow us to really fill some holes. Both put the ball in play. Bill Hall could be an everyday SS, which is where I think his Bat gives us the biggest advantage. Koskie would play every day at 3b.

Lineup if we acquire Crawford

1.Crawford

2.Weeks

3.Prince Fielder

4.Bill Hall

5.Hart

6.Koskie/Cirillo

7.Gross

8.Catcher

Bench - Cirillo(1b,3b), Mench(LF/RF), Graffy(SS/2b), /Gwynn/Nix(OF), Catchers

If we acquired Baldelli

1.Weeks

2.Hart

3.Prince

4.Bill Hall

5.Baldelli

6.Gross

7.Cirillo/Koskie

8.Catcher

Either one of those offenses are as good as any in the league. You have speed and power all the way through, and you would cut down on the strikeouts. Gwynn/Nix provide the left handed bat off the bench as well as speed on the basepaths.

Normally I am in the minority on my ideas, but I still like feedback. I dont think I am too far off as far as what the Devilrays would want in return. Its possible Jenks comes back and beats out Gross, which would be a real nice player off the bench. If not we would ahve to give Jenks away cause I cant see him coming off the bench.

Hardy, Helling and Turnbow for Crawford or Baldelli?

Melvin would be laughed at if he proposed that trade.

You can't just throw in a bunch of guys no one wants with one prospect and expect to get something return. For instance,

Jackson, Jenkins, Clark, Turnbow, Blanco, Wendy Selig-Prieb

For

Albert Pujols

See? It just doesn't work.

So give them Inman and Zack Jackson. Or give them Mark Rogers. In my opinion, while minor league players are exciting, its more important to build a major league team and keep them together when you get something going. Use these pieces to teams that havent gotten to the level that we have yet in order to acquire players we want on our MLB team. The only minor leaguer I would not want to get rid of is Yo. Unfourtunatly he is probably the player that would secure a deal for either CF on the Rays.

I just think the Rays have a logjam at OF with Dukes, Young, Baldelli, Gomes and Crawford. I tihnk one of them will be available and I think Milwauke has the tools to get it done. I think we sell Hardys value a little bit short on these boards. He would be the best SS on quite a few teams if he were able to stay healthy. He is a natural leader, a clutch hitter, good baserunner, and could be one of the faces of a franchise .

Nice idea, but like Rluz stated it would be laughed at. They have a young SS already in Ben Zorbist who they got from the Stros. Have to think they will give him a shot before trading away top talent for the same type of SS.

I love the idea of getting Baldelli. Do you think Eveland and Hardy could net him? They want pitching prospects and Eveland is a good one.

Then we could trade Jenkins for Burrell and some money.

Lineup would be awesome.

Hart

Koskie

Hall

Fielder

Burrell

Baldelli

Weeks

Miller

I like that lineup.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Actually the D-Rays have BJ Upton, who I think they still plan on using at SS for the time being. They also have a young SS moving up named Reid Brignac who was named the Cal League's MVP and one of their top prospects. He had a strong finish at AA, so he's not far away from reaching the big-leagues.

If they're going to trade Crawford, I really think they are going to want proven, young pitching in return, which means they may not even bite on a deal if it included Yovani Gallardo as the centerpiece.

NO! i do not want to give up pitching in this trade. the only d-ray i really want is kazmhir (sp?) and that would cost too much. i hate gutting the team for one player.. remember the dbacks gutted there team for our one player (basically) look what that got them.. he left after an injury year, and they got nothin.

Upton may have had a bit of a down year this season, but at least he stayed healthy again unlike Hardy. I'm sure many will disagree, but I'd still take Upton over Hardy.
