Brewers have/had interest in Chris Snyder?

According to Nick Piecoro from the Arizona Republic the Brewers have shown interest in Chris Snyder and might match up well because of their pitching depth. Snyder had an .800 OPS in 08' and had some back problems last year, I might have some interest in a Snyder for Suppan deal since he is owed $11.25 for the next 2 seasons. We would most likely have to pick up a decent portion of Suppans contract if a deal were to happen.

While Suppan for Snyder might make some sense I think I'd pass. It essentially seems like extending Suppan's contract into next season. I like Zaun+Kottaras as much as Snyder not even considering salary. Add in the salary and I think it negates any potential value. Maybe it would be worth it if he'd be penciled in to start next year but hopefully either Salome or Lucroy will be ready by then.

If we were going to trade Suppan, I'd rather just offer to eat most of Suppan's salary (as I assume that would be necessary) and get a marginal mid-level minor leaguer in return. I'd rather just have Suppan's money off the books after this season and be done with it, than take on more money for next season (which could be better used to extend Fielder or make another FA SP signing).

I do think its interesting that in the last week the Brewers have been reported to be interested in two high priced players that teams are looking to trade in Lowell and Snyder. I'm guessing they are being active in looking to trade Suppan or possibly Bush.

The interesting part is that the D-Backs have some interest in Suppan. Snyder's name is thrown out there because it's a pretty close total dollar match, not because the Brewers need him.

Now if the D-Backs are that interested (and they are still looking for another starter), why not agree to pick up all but $1.5 or $2 million and just deal him for a body. Better yet, balance out your bench by adding Inglett with Suppan for Ryan Roberts who's basically a right handed version of Inglett.

Rosenthal's latest makes it sound like the Brewers actually considered a deal. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/MLB-webb-surgery-leaves-dbacks-short-on-the-mound-032610

"The Brewers considered Jeff Suppan-for-Snyder, but did not want to take on Snyder’s money for 2011.

Suppan, 35, is earning $12.5 million this season in the final year of his contract. His ERA last season was 5.29. This spring, it’s 7.71. The Brewers, however, do not expect to release him, a source said."

If they could trade Snyder for Lowell in a 3-way I'd be interested
I'd be interested in a three-way too. It just doesn't include Snyder or Lowell.
Who wouldn't be interested in a three-way? I'm pretty sure everyone would come out of it satisfied with the results.
