Mike Lowell?

With Gamel's injury and McGehee's uncertainty if he can stay healthy it would be wise for the Brewers to look at another 3B option Lowell just isn't an option. The health issues are just way to high to even consider Lowell as an option at 3B. With Heether being the only real alternative to McGehee at 3B or at least until Gamel gets healthy that is which may not be until June or July. Not being down on Gamel it is just the reality here that Gamel is probably won't be ready to go until about June the earliest and around July or August the latest.

Most scouts doubt he has the mobility to play 3rd anymore. Most think he'd have to DH or be strictly a PH.
Lowell can still hit, which means hit can do one thing right.

That's one more thing right than Suppan can do.

Stop the madness. Please. Why are so many people so inexplicably down on Gamel?

It's good to hear a neutral observer say this

I don't get the Gamel hate either. If the Brewers don't give him a real chance this year or next then they are truly stupid. So what if some guys just rub you the wrong way. Live with it. There's lots of unseemly people who play sports and many of them are productive. I think Gamel will be a semi-stud and certainly a worthy starting third baseman for half a decade.

It is. The answer however is simple, because fans are impatient and reactionary in nature. Just so little patience. It really has to suck to be a young player and be under so much pressure. Basically if you don't perform right away, the pressure just grows exponentially. I cannot understand why you would EVER boo any players on YOUR team.

That said, Suppan plus a solid prospect for Mike Lowell is a HUGE win for us IMO. The prospect would top out at a.....guy not in our top 30. So "solid" may be pushing it. A David Welsch type pitcher. Maybe Eric Farris. Lowell is still good enough to get 60 starts at 3rd base IMO, and be a great option off the bench.

Gamel is not only hurt, but he may not be quite ready yet. I really love his swing....so easy and fluid and I think he can be a dynamic #2 hitter for us for the future....a guy who can come in and hit .310+ with a .385 OBP while hitting Lefties better than Righties. Not a Gold Glover, but not terrible either....so wanting someone else as a short fix does not mean we don't like Gamel.

You don't think you're taking juuuust a bit of a leap in assuming the reason the Brewers aren't playing Gamel because he "rubs them the wrong way"?

I think that's absolutely ridiculous and I don't think it has anything to do with anything.

They had another rookie raking last year and Gamel was not. Simple as that.
