2010-03-08 Mariners split-squad (Fister) at Brewers (Parra), 2:05 PM CST -- It's a TV game! [Brewers win, 6-2]

First of all, there is a "B" game scheduled this morning against the Reds, weather permitting. "B" games aren't like official split-squad games, they don't count in the spring standings (as if that matters), aren't broadcast, etc. We may or may not be able to obtain a box score, so we'll rely on the usual Maryvale coverage from the J-S and MLB.com for any details. The J-S notes that Eric Arnett, John Axford, Zach Braddock, Tim Dillard, Scott Schoeneweis and Chris Smith are on the Brewers' pitching list for the "B" game.

As for the regularly scheduled game against the M's --

Box score here.

The game is live on FSN Wisconsin as of 2:05 CT. It will be re-broadcast at 7:00 PM if you forgot to DVR.

That same broadcast is available to MLB video subscribers here. That online video broadcast will also archive for subscribers who wish to catch it at home rather than the office or campus.

No access to those two sources? The MLB network has the game at 6:00 PM Central on tape (subject to blackout to FSN viewers).

There is no audio only coverage on WTMJ or for MLB audio-only subscribers, hence no XM radio coverage. To participate in this one, you must watch, although...

A Gameday, which mainly allows you to scroll through a "game log" later on, can be found here. By the way, the last couple of days Gameday has kept up batter-by-batter, but not on a pitch-by-pitch basis.

As game time approaches, the Brewers' media notes will be available here. That's where you will learn who else is scheduled to pitch beyond Manny Parra and Dave Bush, and whether any minor leaguers are up from their camp for the game.

Forecast is better for the afternoon game than the morning affair. The Mariners are also playing the White Sox today in an official split-squad game, but the Brewers will also be split, in effect, if they get the "B" game in.

We know posts may be light here during spring training games in particular, and while posts are still welcome, we will be pushing our

Spring Training Chat Room

during all our In-Game Threads.

When you look at the list of all our Forums, you'll see how many are in the chat room at any one time. Schmooze with fellow Brewer fans who are into the team enough that they've made spring training games, in this case watching spring training games (!), a part of their day!

Amaze your friends today with bar trivia --

Only three players in Major League Baseball history have last names starting with the letters "Kot," and they all played on the Red Sox last season — Casey Kotchman, Mark Kotsay and George Kottaras.

I'm really not liking how much Macha is hitting Gomez 2nd. It would take a tremendous breakout season from Carlos to justify him batting there.

I *do* like to see, though, that McGehee is DHing & Gamel is getting time at 3B. I'm excited to see him play today.

At this point it's probably just to get him as many Spring Training at bats as possible. He needs the most work, so he might as well hit at the top of the lineup.

I like that logic, too, and certainly hope that's what Macha's doing (or at least giving Gomez the opportunity to play himself out of the role). It's still early, though, so I'm sure we'll see things change once we get later in the month.

I hope that they are just giving him a more at bats but I doubt it. BA said that Macha likes Gomez in the 2 hole because he thinks pitchers will be more agressive with him because of Braun and Fielder behind him.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.
