Please holler if you're missing private messages

Some recent server maintenance has caused pre-2009 private messages to disappear for some members. If that's happened to you and you'd like them restored, please do one of the following:

  • Post your request to the lost private messages topic at Yuku Support. The lead is old, but the recent replies are current.
  • Post your request to this topic, and I'll relay it to Yuku.
  • PM your request to me.

It's possible that for some, more than just pre-2009 messages could be missing. If that's the case, it'd still be appropriate to let Yuku know.

I just sent myself a message. There was a delay, but the "1" and the blue navigation button did show up after a couple of minutes. I think this might have been happening yesterday, too. I'll watch to see if I can learn something about this.

Somewhat related...

I am getting email notice of new messages, and they are in my inbox, but they do not show up after the envelope icon at the top of my screen when I am logged in.

This happened to me today. Prior to this, I'd been getting the "1" notice in the toolbar atop my browser window.

I didn't notice the toolbar icon show up at all... but of course I read the PM as soon as I saw that it was in my inbox (I logged in, & noticed it since Yuku has the drop-down menu down by default when you log in)

TooLive, I thought I saw this the other day, but I'm definitely seeing this issue right now. I received a message about 50 minutes ago and it never registered a "(1)" in my inbox. I found it because of the e-mail alert.

I know that there are issues with PMs right now that directly relate to Yuku's attempt to make old and new profiles compatible with each other. Most reports that I've seen are the other way around, though, i.e. people read their messages and their navigation bars still indicate that there are new messages.

There are so many bug reports on PMs right now that I'm not sure that I can quickly find one related to this. (It'd be nice of people used topic titles that were more explicative than "Please help me. http://images.yuku.com/image/gif/c8935733514242385b3248c1035cdb1587936d6.gif) There'll likely be a code push soon, so maybe there'll be something in the announcement addressing this.

Let me know if this issue is still persisting. On my end, I'll poke around. If I see something before the next push, I'll post here. If this is still happening after then next push, I'll post a topic in Bugs.

For the past two days, I've been seeing the issue that IIR and TooLive reported. When a PM comes in, the navigation button doesn't turn blue, nor does the number of messages change from zero.

As far as the issue posted earlier in this topic, staff considers it a low priority because lost messages are "old." I can't fathom how data loss can be considered low priority or how staff can pretend to know how important those lost messages might be, but that's what I've been told.
