J.D. Drew

"We let the Dodgers know we're interested in returning "

doesnt really mean much. when have you ever known boras to exclude any team(especially one with dollars to spend) from the running on any of his players. From what I have heard, I would bet Drew is not a dodger next year.

I wouldn't think so either, but for the reason that Drew opted out of his contract because he thought he could get more money. It seems like kind of a jerk thing for Drew to do, and then assume that the Dodgers will again offer but offer more money.

Looking at his career stats, Drew looks like an expensive version of Geoff Jenkins. He is injury prone, hit over 30 home runs once and hit over .300 once, has struck out more than 100 times in a season a couple of times. Drew walks, which is nice.

Carlos Lee is superior to Drew in basically every way. I wouldnt want the Crew to give Drew even 3yr/33mil dollar deal right now.

no thank you.

Except defense, plate discipline, base-running, speed, OBP, and SLG. He's healthier and six months younger and strikes out less, those are basically where he's superior.

There is no question to me that Drew is a better overall player than Lee is and buy a decent margin. His health problems are so big though,it even out there value IMO.

If Drew could stay on the field, there aren't that many RF's in baseball i'd rather have. You watch JD play and he's such a talent, but i don't know the guy well enough to know whether he's soft, very unlucky,or simply has a body that's prone to injury.

Drew is of the Jenkins mold, but with a bit more talent. Both are fairly inconsistent and injury prone, though Drew is probably even more likely to get hurt. Jenks is a year older.

The big difference is that while both broken .900 in OPS three times, Drew broke 1.000 in two of those years, and has been very good in the last three years, where Jenks only has one good season (2005). Jenks has always had the ability to have very good seasons, but Drew has dominant season ability. Add in Drew's better D and that his OPS has a higher percentage of more valuable OBP points, and he's clearly the superior talent.

Drew is one of the most talented players in the game. Whereas Jenkins makes things look tough at times, Drew is pretty much smooth. He's a five-tooler (maybe four now, but he can still run fairly well). Drew has the talent to win an MVP, Jenkins an All-Star.
