Lost Season 6...

razzzorsharp
Great episode, I think, that answered some long awaited questions, I think.
Completely agree. I really liked this episode. It answered a lot of questions with bringing up a couple more here and there, but nothing huge. It is hard for me to know how much I can believe of the stuff that Bad Locke says. I am excited for how they are going to wrap this up. If the previews show anything it looks like Jack is going to start moving from the mopey guy we saw last season to a more intense/confident guy which is good too.

One of the better hours of TV I've seen in quite some time. While I don't believe that a lot of questions were answered outright, I got the sense that it is setting up the final conflict.

Speaking of, did anyone else notice Katey Sagal's black nail polish? Did fake Locke get off the island?

I was just listening to the bob and brian lost podcast and something came to mind. The flight number was 815, and two of the numbers are 8 and 15. Im going to have to go back to the episode to figure out which of the people are #8 and #15, but I think they are going to become major players in taking control of the island.

A quick check on Hulu reveals the following:

#23 - Sheppard

#8 - Reyes

#16 - Jarrah

#42 - Kwon (we don't know which one yet)

#4 - Locke

#15 - Ford

Of course, these numbers look familiar since they were Hugo's winning lottery numbers and appeared on the hatch, but in both cases appeared in a different (ascending) order:

4-8-15-16-23-42

But what about the other Oceanic survivors? It appears that these six (not the same as the "Oceanic Six") will play a more substantial role at the end, while others like Kate may not get that far.

My theory is that the rule is the "protector of the island" has to be male. Thus, no Kate on the list and #42 Kwon= Jin, not Sun.

I also wonder if the man in black/Locke is the reason behind why no children are born on the island. Something like he can come back or mark through death (Locke, Sayid) and Jacob can come back through new life (Aaron). That would make some sense for why "the others" were so focused on getting the children early on.

I didn't know Jack had a son so I'm assuming this was a new twist. Really interested to see how they explain the "non island" story line.

Yea, great episode. I wonder who is the mother of Jack's son. I'm guessing since they didn't mention it, it might be someone we already know.

That'd be crazy if it was Juliet.

The prevailing thought I'm seeing online is that it will be Juliet, and I agree, they seem to be hinting that it's someone from the island because they seem to like to set those up like you don't see them coming.

However, I'm not sure it won't be Jack's ex-wife from the original timeline. So far, none of the Losties have really known each other in the sideways timeline, they're just having encounters. Also, other relationships seem to be maintaining in the sideways timeline.

Oh, also, as for the appendix scene, I think they are heading to the two timelines being linked somehow, though I have no idea how. But this is really the second time this season that sideways Jack was surprised by something on his own body. There was a scene in an earlier episode where he seemed surprised by a cut on his neck, and we saw no reason he should have had it. I think it was in the first episode, when he went into the bathroom on the plane. And again, with the appendix, he seemed surprised to be noticing the scar, and it certainly didn't look like a 20+ year old scar.

I'm a little confused by Jack having a son in the alternate timeline. I suppose the timeline split at the time the bomb exploded (in the 70's), not when the airplane didn't crash. But you'd think that practically speaking there shouldn't be any differences (at least in their lives) up to the point with the plane crashed.

I think there are numerous things like that.

1. Jack having a child

2. Hurley having great "luck"

3. Locke seeming to get along with his dad - there was a comment about a small wedding with his dad there. Maybe he was adopted? Who knows

4. Shannon not coming back with Boone

5. Rose living in LA not New York. I do not know if she had a ring on her finger

6. Desmond being on the plane

There are probably others I missed. One thought I had is if Jacob really was trying to get them to come to the island in the original timeline, in the alternate timeline if the island blew-up he would not be trying to get them there. Jack having a kid, Hurley not being unlucky, and Locke like his father may be results of Jacob not trying to shape them to be candidates. This is just going off what "Bad Locke" is saying right now, and since I have never been right on a theory before, outside of some little stuff, I am sure I am wrong.

Good point about Jacob not being involved in their lives.

I'd forgotten about Locke marrying Helen, that was another thing that stuck out to me.

I really have no clue what is going on but it sure is fun to speculate. I am really intrigued by how this season is going to play out. I am glad they to a risk and went with the alternate reality as the story-telling technique. Who knows if the end will ultimately be satisfactory but you cannot say they weren't original.

I'm waiting for one of the "alternate-life" characters, probably Jack, to read a news clipping/see a newsreel on the 30th anniversary of the strange H-Bomb going off in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

"5. Rose living in LA not New York. I do not know if she had a ring on her finger"

Her husband was on the plane with Jack in the "alternate-life" flight through the turbulence, although he was in the lavatory in the tail end as he was originally. After the turbulence, he returned to his seat and commented about not doing that anymore.

Thanks for pointing that out. So it is just the being in a different city that is different

I'm getting very frustrated (again) with this show. I think I've liked one or two of the new season episodes so far. I don't want more questions, I want a lot of answers. I guess I just expected the pacing to speed up now that they have an ending to write towards... and it still feels like hardly anything happens until the last 15 minutes of each episode... and then the payoff is not enough. If I can talk my girlfriend into it, I may start DVRing a bunch at a time and watching them without commercials. I swear that show has more commercials than anything else on television.

Chadomac - there's only 10 episodes left so if there's any unanswered questions at the end you have a right to be frustrated (and even then, I hope I they don't answer every single thing....I think it'd be interesting to leave a few things open ended).

Technically there are 11 episodes left I think. I think they were saying last night there are only 10 more until the finale.

Personally I thought last night's episode was spectacular and when I stop to think of it, I don't think there a lot of questions about what's happening really remaining. Maybe for the first time, the majority of the questions about Lost right now for me are about what will happen, not what just happened and why.

I do think there will be things left unresolved for some people, for instance, Widmore and his whole role seem to have completely disappeared, but ultimately I don't much care about that.
