Cubs sign Nady - $3.3 million plus incentives

He figures to be platooning with Fukudome which will give the Cubs an all right handed lineup vs. the Brewer's lefty dominated rotation.

 

With an all righty lineup facing them, it would behoove the Brewers to have their long man be right handed, so in the event of a short start by a lefty, he'd have an advantage.

In other words, the loser of the final spot in the rotation - Bush of Suppan (my hope) - should be the long man.

Davis has been better vs RHB than LHB in his career so wouldn't worry about it against him. Wolf has a split but it isn't extreme. This will probably be hardest on Parra.

Nady has drawn significantly more walks against lefties, but his increased batting average against lefties can be attributed to his elevated BABIP rather than a higher HR% or a significantly lower SO%. Is there anywhere to get batted ball data (LD%, GB%, etc.) sorted by this platoon split?

A steal for that price, and he could easily get 400 ABs this year, between platooning and spelling their 2 corner OFs.

Nady is someone the Brewers should have looked into. Very underrated player in my opinion.

Nady has only broken 1 WAR one time in since 2003, hard to think the Cubs got some sort of big deal here. He's a below average defensive corner OF who can't really play every day. Add in the fact he is coming off of his second TJ surgery and I think this deal is very luke warm. He could give them some value but nothing to get excited about.
