I love that extra $2.00

I love that extra $2.00

Coffey explains it.

Coffey also reminded me why he likes a "2" at the end of his salary. He likes it to be an even number other than zero. When I told him it could have been a "4" or a "6," he said he wasn't about to mess with his success in 2009.

"(Assistant GM) Gord (Ash) said we've got to do it with a '2' on the end," said Coffey. "I wasn't about to argue."

Crew2323[/b]]This is an overpay! This signing might be the only one that makes the Wolf and Davis signings look good! I really hope that overpaying Coffey an extra two dollars doesn't preclude the Brewers from making a move at the deadline!

you may joke about it, but unless sheet brings down his asking price to $9,999,998 there is no way the brewers can afford him!

Because his uniform number is not his salary?

I'm pleased by this signing. Todd was my mother's favorite Brewer of 2009 - he looks like my brother-in-law - and for the first time since she got FSN access and began telling me her favorite Brewer of each season, she now has a player tee that's good for more than one year. (2007 = Mench; 2008 = Kapler. Yes, her favorite in '07 was Kevin Mench; she said, "he looks the least like a professional athlete.")

"he looks the least like a professional athlete."

I have to admit, this really cracked me up.

Imagine me and the S.O. striving not to laugh out loud in front of her when she said that. Perhaps it was the Menchian Menchdome that made her think he looked (even) less like a professional athlete than Carne Estrada or Brian Shouse.

Anyway, I'm sure she's pleased to know that Todd Coffey remains in the fold.
