Just heard while listening to a AFL game that Toronto will sign Frank Thomas to a 2 year contract.

Guys, don't get too excited about Vernon Wells's possible impending availability. A lot of talk out of the GM mtg week is that Toronto feels they can challenge legitimately for the AL East crown this year. Perhaps the deal with Thomas is to prepare for dealing Wells, but it seems more likely that this is an addition to shoot for the crown.

 

Ok, now, that being said, the Jays had one successful LH starter in 2006 -- Ted Lilly -- and he's a FA expected to move on. Davis perhaps could be a main piece to lure away Wells, but I'd bet that's not a good probability

If the brewers did get wells, it would only cause massive heartache for all his fans when he turns down their 4 years 60 million dollar offer to go get whatever soriano gets this year from the orioles or something...

i think it would probably take capuano, not davis. or else davis and a slew of players.
